There are two ways to install WordPress on a2hosting’s services.
The first is the manual method, and the second is the automated method with the Plesk control panel.
Manual WordPress Install On a2Hosting
The manual install on a2hosting is not different from any manual WordPress installation. To do that, go to https://wordpress.org/download/,
download the WordPress archive to your computer.
When the download process is completed, extract the .zip file to any folder. Then on the next step, you should use an FTP software to connect to the file system of your hosting. If you don’t know how to do it, we suggest you read the How to Login in FTP (beginners guide) article.
Step 1. Database Creation
The next step is to create a database, and you can do this through the cPanel. Log in to your cPanel, then go to the databases section and click the “MySQL” Databases icon. Then click “Create New Database” and in the text box called “New database” write the name of your database.
Step 2. Log In Your Website
After this is done, go to your website’s URL address and you will see a “Create a Configuration File button“. Click on it and it will require some details regarding your database, that you just set a while ago.
Have in mind that on shared and reseller hosting accounts, the name of your database begins with your username, For example, if you’ve created a database called wordpress, the full database name will be yourUsername_wordpress.
In the database host text field, make sure that it is set to localhost, the table prefix should be wp_. Then click “Submit” and then install it.
Managed WordPress Installation
Managed WordPress installation is much easier than the manual. To do that, you just have to log in to your Plesk account, go to the left section called “Websites & Domains” and click on the WordPress link.
This is your WordPress Toolkit page, where you can manage your WordPress installations. To install WordPress hit the install button.
You will see two options – Quick and Custom install. The quick install is faster and the custom install lets you choose more specific options of your installation. We suggest you select the “quick install” option, then click “Yes” to continue.
Then you are all done. Your WordPress is ready, but still, you will be asked to install some plugins, you can click “No thanks” and do it later.
You can click on the WordPress Instances menu and you will see your installation.
If you’ve installed WordPress manually, just like we’ve shown in the first part of our tutorial, you can import your WordPress installation by clicking the “SCAN” button.
Your WordPress site is now live and you can start building it.
