Hostinger VS Squarespace – Compare +65000 Reviews

Three years of Squarespace Basic cost USD 684 in the US, while Hostinger's Premium plan costs USD 143.52 for four. Pick Hostinger AI Builder if your three-year budget is under USD 450 and any shop you run stays under 1,000 products. Pick Squarespace if you'll list more than 1,000 products, sell in several currencies, or want human support on the cheapest plan.

Quick answer: Hostinger AI Builder wins on cost by a wide margin, even after adding its separate store plan. Squarespace wins for bigger shops. Might you leave within three years? Then build WordPress on the same Hostinger plan, because neither builder lets your design leave with you.

What Hostinger and Squarespace Cost Over Three Years

Both companies set prices by location, so we used US prices for each. Hostinger's come from its US-dollar store and cart on 19 October 2026, before tax. Squarespace served us euros, so we used the Wayback Machine's 13 October 2026 copy of its pricing page, which was served to a US visitor. The price data built into that copy tags the same amounts for the US.

Hostinger sells its AI Builder as part of its hosting plans. The plan you buy is the same Premium plan that also runs WordPress. Premium covers three websites. Its regular rate is USD 2.99 a month if you prepay 48 months, so you pay USD 143.52 up front. Shorter terms cost more: USD 47.88 for 12 months or USD 83.76 for 24. All three renew at USD 10.99 a month, billed 12 months at a time. Month to month, it's USD 12.19.

Those are Hostinger's regular prices, as its pricing page showed them on 1 October 2026 and a Common Crawl copy showed them on 5 September. Hostinger's Black Friday price is USD 2.49 a month (USD 119.52 for 48 months) until 14 December 2026. The USD 10.99 renewal is 3.68x the regular entry rate.

Squarespace's US price list has no first-term discount. Basic costs USD 19 a month billed yearly (USD 228) or USD 25 month to month. Core costs USD 29 yearly or USD 39 monthly. A yearly plan renews at the same price, unless Squarespace changes its list, as it did in July.

Squarespace's own comparison page gets Hostinger's terms wrong. It says Hostinger's low rate applies "for the first year". Hostinger's cart shows that rate needs 48 months paid up front.

Hostinger's entry prices are its regular rates on a 48-month prepay. Even after renewal, both Hostinger plans cost less a month than Squarespace Basic. Over three years, using the cheapest payment route each company offers, the order holds. Hostinger's 48-month prepay is cheaper than 24 months plus a renewal (USD 215.64), so three years cost USD 143.52. Squarespace Basic costs USD 684 on yearly billing, or USD 900 month to month. Core costs USD 1,044.

The gap keeps growing after year four, just more slowly. In year five Hostinger bills USD 131.88, bringing its total to USD 275.40. Five years of Squarespace Basic cost USD 1,140. Both add a domain free for year one, on longer terms only. Hostinger renews a .com at USD 19.99 a year and Squarespace at USD 20, so domains don't change the order.

Squarespace also got pricier this summer. Squarespace raised its US prices for new customers between 2 and 8 July 2026, moving Basic from USD 192 to USD 228 a year. Wayback Machine copies of Squarespace's own plan feed show the old list on 2 July and only the new one from 8 July. Test versions with higher prices had appeared for some visitors from 5 May. Core went from USD 276 to USD 348 a year.

Existing customers on Squarespace's retired plans got price-change emails instead. Its help center says they pay the new price at their next renewal date.

Winner: Hostinger. Even at its renewal price, Premium costs less per year than Squarespace Basic. Squarespace is easier to budget for, since its price doesn't jump.

Selling Online: Hostinger's Store Plan vs Squarespace's 2% Fee

Hostinger launched Hostinger Ecommerce as a separate subscription on 1 July 2026, and new Unlimited plans no longer include a store. Its help center, updated 13 October 2026, says so in plain words. A builder store needs this plan on top of hosting, in manual and agentic mode alike. (Agentic mode can also add Stripe payment links, but Hostinger warns they have no backend payment check.)

That matters because older guides still list ecommerce as an Unlimited feature. Hostinger's own pages add to the confusion. The AI Builder price card shows "Ecommerce available" only from Unlimited up. The web hosting card shows it on Premium too. In the cart, both plans offer the store as a paid add-on.

The store plan costs USD 4.99 a month on a 12-month term (USD 59.88). The cart marks that as a sale price, and we found no record of the regular one. It renews at USD 8.99 a month, or USD 107.88 a year. Hostinger charges no platform fee on sales. Your payment provider still takes its cut, and Hostinger supports Stripe, PayPal and a few regional providers.

So a Hostinger shop costs USD 419.16 over three years: USD 143.52 for hosting plus USD 275.64 for the store plan at its sale price. Squarespace Basic can sell on its own for USD 684. It adds a 2% fee on store sales, though, and Core removes that fee for USD 1,044.

When does Core pay off? Core costs USD 120 a year more than Basic, and 2% of USD 6,000 is USD 120. Sell more than USD 6,000 a year and Core is the cheaper Squarespace plan. On top of either plan, Squarespace Payments charges US card rates of 2.9% plus USD 0.30 on Basic and Core.

Limits favor Squarespace. Hostinger's manual-mode help page caps a store at 1,000 products, while its pricing page promises unlimited ones. Squarespace's help center puts the cap at 10,000, and its pricing page says there's no limit. Hostinger's store also can't sell in multiple currencies or languages. Squarespace connects Square for in-person sales in the US and offers Afterpay and Klarna through its payment options.

Winner: Hostinger for a small shop in one currency. Squarespace takes over past 1,000 products.

What the AI in Each Builder Actually Does

Hostinger announced on 18 August 2026 that it had merged its Website Builder and its Horizons app builder into one AI Builder. It now has two modes, and they're different products in practice.

Manual mode is the drag-and-drop editor. You describe the site in one prompt, then adjust the draft by hand. The builder can also start from an old site's link or a PDF. Hostinger lists an AI Writer, AI Blog Generator, AI SEO Assistant, AI Image Generator and AI Logo Maker. The SEO tool writes a page title and meta description from your keywords. Manual mode doesn't use AI credits.

Agentic mode is a chat. Hostinger's help center says the AI writes the code, file structure and backend, so it can build web apps as well as sites. Chat requests spend AI credits. Premium includes 250 as a one-time gift, and renewals add none.

Squarespace's AI works inside its normal editor. Blueprint AI builds a custom template step by step, then fills it with text and images. Its text tools draft blocks, blog posts, product descriptions and emails. A chat editor called Clarkson changes text and images, edits products and drafts email campaigns. Squarespace is still rolling it out in waves.

Squarespace's text tools and Clarkson cost no credits. Image generation does: Basic gets 10 credits, once, and Core gets 20 a month.

Winner: Hostinger for range, since agentic mode builds things Squarespace can't. Squarespace is cheaper for editing a finished site by chat, because Clarkson costs no credits once it reaches your account.

Leaving Later: What Each Builder Lets You Take

Neither builder lets your design leave with you. What does survive depends on how you built the site.

Hostinger's manual mode sends content to a WordPress site you set up first. Hostinger's export guide, last updated on 24 September 2026, names what stays behind. Design and layout don't move, and neither do the store, integrations, forms, form entries or SEO settings. What moves is "regular pages, texts, images, and other files." You also can't download a backup of a builder site, unlike a WordPress site.

Agentic mode is different. It exports the whole project as a ZIP file, a Node.js app built with React and Vite. Backend data stays behind, and you can't import an edited copy back. You'd need someone who can run that code.

There's a trap between the two modes. Hostinger can copy a manual-mode site into agentic mode, but not if the site uses its store. So a manual-mode shop can't take that route to the code export.

Squarespace exports one file in WordPress format. It carries layout pages, one blog with all its posts, text blocks and image blocks. Store pages, product blocks, videos, extra blogs, style settings and custom CSS stay behind. Physical and service products go out separately as a CSV spreadsheet, up to 10,000 of them.

One catch: images imported with WordPress's importer can keep pointing at Squarespace. Squarespace warns that those links break once you cancel. Moving a Squarespace site to WordPress hosting means rebuilding the design and checking every image.

Here the third option earns its place. Hostinger's Premium plan also runs WordPress at the same USD 143.52. A WordPress site is files plus a database, and Hostinger's own cancellation guide recommends downloading both. You can move it to any host. For a store, WooCommerce is free and needs no Hostinger store plan. You'll spend more time learning WordPress, though, and you'll handle its updates yourself.

Winner: Squarespace for a blog, since its export keeps all posts of one blog. For a site you'll surely move, skip both builders and use WordPress.

Trials, Refunds and the Renewal Bill

Squarespace's trial is the better test. Longer, too. It lasts 14 days, needs no card, and lets you build the whole site privately. You can't take payments, and search engines don't index trial sites. Hostinger's trial lasts 7 days, and its help page says trial sites can't be published.

Hostinger's trial has a second cost. Its refund policy covers hosting "except first payment after Free Trial". Start with the trial and your first bill can't be refunded, so skip it if you want the 30-day window.

Refunds otherwise go Hostinger's way. It refunds hosting within 30 days of a payment, and its policy counts a renewal as one. Two more exceptions apply: Hostinger may keep the value of the free domain, and agentic-mode plans qualify only if you sent fewer than 30 prompts. Squarespace refunds yearly plans within 14 days of purchase, minus the domain's cost. Monthly plans and renewals get nothing back.

Both renew on their own. Squarespace emails a reminder 15 days before a yearly renewal, but monthly plans renew without one. Hostinger's terms let it charge your card up to 30 days before the term ends, at "then-current fees". Its terms make a reminder email optional, and monthly customers don't get one. On a 48-month plan, set a calendar reminder, because the renewal is USD 131.88 for 12 months.

[caption id="attachment_115402" align="aligncenter" width="628"]Screenshot of Hostinger's cart: Premium, 48-month term, Black Friday price, with an outlined line showing renewal at USD 10.99/mo for 12 months. Winner: Squarespace for trying a site, Hostinger for refunds if you buy without the trial.

Where Each Hosts Your Site, and Who Answers Support

Squarespace says it stores data in Tier III data centers across the United States. Images and other static files go out through several content delivery networks (CDNs, servers that keep copies close to visitors). That help article was last edited in May 2023.

Hostinger's builder help page names no data center at all. It says all builder files go through Hostinger's own CDN, which is the only option and needs no setup. For its other hosting, Hostinger names three US locations (Phoenix, Boston and Asheville) plus others in Europe, Asia and Brazil.

We usually measure network latency (how fast a server answers) from home connections in the country we cover. Here we skipped it. Hostinger doesn't say where builder sites live, so a test would have timed two CDNs rather than comparable servers.

Support is clearer at Squarespace. It offers email and live chat 24 hours a day, every day, with no phone line. Hostinger's AI Builder price card says Premium gets "chatbot support from Hostinger Agent", while Unlimited gets "Priority 24/7 expert support". Its web hosting page lists that priority support on Premium too. In one October 2026 thread on Reddit, three commenters described getting stuck in loops with Hostinger's AI support. Our Hostinger review covers that support model and its review scores in more depth.

Ratings point the other way. On Trustpilot, Hostinger holds 4.6 from 73,296 reviews. Squarespace holds 3.5 from 6,205, with 2,451 one-star reviews against 2,468 five-star ones. Both scores cover each whole company, not just the builders.

Winner: Squarespace, because it promises human chat on every plan and says so plainly.

How We Compared Hostinger and Squarespace

This comparison is research, not a hands-on build. We didn't create test sites, time page loads or judge template design. All prices, limits and policies here come from the two companies' own pages, help centers, terms and carts. We read them on 19 October 2026, except for Squarespace's US prices.

Prices are US prices before tax, since both companies show local prices by location. Hostinger's come from its US-dollar store and cart, opened without entering personal details. Its cart showed a Black Friday sale, so we lead with the regular prices from our 1 October notes. For Squarespace, which showed us euros, we used an archived copy of its pricing page from 13 October 2026, served to a US visitor. Its built-in price list, marked for the US, agrees.

Three-year costs use one method for both: the cheapest way to pay for 36 months, renewals included. They count plan fees only. Tax, domain renewals and payment fees are left out and covered in the text. For the price change, we compared archived copies of Squarespace's plan feed from February to September 2026.

We weighted cost and the exit most heavily, because those decide whether a cheap start stays cheap. Selling limits came next, then AI, terms and support. User opinion comes from Trustpilot and Reddit, and we report counts, not our own experience.

How to Choose Between Hostinger and Squarespace

Start with what you sell and whether you might leave. Then match your situation below.

  • Brochure site, small budget: if three years of hosting must stay under USD 200, buy Hostinger Premium at USD 143.52 for 48 months. Squarespace Basic would cost USD 684 over the same three years.
  • Small shop, one currency: under 1,000 products -> Hostinger Premium plus its store plan, USD 419.16 over three years. Skip Squarespace Basic, which costs more and adds 2% of every sale.
  • Big or international shop: past 1,000 products, several currencies or in-person sales, go with Squarespace. Choose Core once sales pass USD 6,000 a year, where the Basic fee overtakes Core's extra USD 120.
  • Blog you may move: Squarespace, whose export keeps every post of one blog. Hostinger's manual export lists only pages, text, images and files.
  • Likely to switch hosts: any chance of moving within three years -> WordPress on Hostinger Premium, same USD 143.52. Skip both builders, since neither design moves.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Hostinger cheaper than Squarespace?

Yes, by a lot. Four years of Hostinger Premium cost USD 143.52, then USD 10.99 a month. Squarespace Basic costs USD 684 for three. Even with Hostinger's store plan, three years cost USD 419.16.

What is the downside of Hostinger?

The renewal jump is the big one: Premium renews at USD 10.99 a month, 3.68x its USD 2.99 entry rate. Selling needs a separate store plan. Builder sites can't be downloaded as a backup. Hostinger's own pages even disagree on whether Premium gets human or chatbot support.

Is Squarespace still good in 2026?

For bigger shops, yes. It handles up to 10,000 products and offers 24/7 human chat. But it raised US prices in July 2026, and Basic now costs USD 228 a year. Its Trustpilot reviews split almost evenly between one and five stars.

Can I move my Squarespace site to Hostinger?

Not as it is. Squarespace exports pages, one blog, text and images into WordPress, which Hostinger Premium can run. Store pages, styles and videos stay behind, so you'll rebuild the design and re-add products using Squarespace's product spreadsheet.

Final Verdict

Hostinger AI Builder is the pick for most small sites. USD 143.52 buys four years of Premium, and the USD 10.99 renewal still undercuts Squarespace. Add the store plan for a small shop and you're still at USD 419.16 over three years.

Squarespace is the pick for shops past 1,000 products, sellers in several currencies, and anyone who wants human chat on the cheapest plan. Go straight to Core once yearly sales pass USD 6,000.

If you might leave, choose WordPress on Hostinger instead of either builder. It costs the same and is the only option here whose whole site moves.
