Short answer: Host IT Smart is a reasonable pick for cheap Indian shared hosting, and a risky one for anything else. The shared plans are among the cheapest that still include cPanel and a free domain. The VPS and dedicated lines are where nearly every serious complaint lands.
This review draws on four platforms holding roughly 450 ratings between them. We read the pricing pages, the terms of service, and archived copies of both, then checked one marketing claim against ICANN’s own registrar records. Unlike affiliate-heavy reviews, we print renewal prices beside promo prices. We publish the rating distribution, not just the average.
Overall assessment: Host IT Smart scores 4.4/5 on its largest public review profile, across 197 reviews. Strengths are price, named support agents, and clear renewal disclosure. Common complaints are unannounced outages, slow tickets, and VPS performance below what was sold. Best suited to first websites and small business sites in India.
Last updated: August 2026. Pricing and review data verified.
Historical context: Host IT Smart added renewal pricing to its shared hosting plan cards between April and August 2025. The archived 25 April 2025 version of its Linux hosting page lists four plans with no renewal figure anywhere. The 6 August 2025 version prints “Renews at INR 125/mo after 3 years” and the matching line on all four. Any review written before mid-2025 quotes an entry price that had no published renewal attached to it.

Features and Services
Host IT Smart is run by Hosting World Private Limited of Ahmedabad, and its own timeline dates the business to April 2012. It sells through four regional storefronts: India, Canada, Global, and Caribbean. Prices differ between them, so what you see depends on where you land.
Hosting Types Offered
- Shared Hosting (Linux and Windows), cPanel accounts from one website up
- WordPress Hosting, the same shared platform with WordPress preinstalled
- VPS Hosting, a virtual private server: a guaranteed slice of a machine rather than a shared pool. Sold self-managed and managed
- Dedicated Servers, whole physical machines, hosted in the US
- Reseller hosting, SSL certificates, Google Workspace, and a website builder
Key Features Customers Highlight
Reviewers keep returning to three things. None of them is performance.
- Price. The entry plan costs less per month than a cup of coffee, with a free .COM for the first year
- Named support agents. Positive reviews thank individual staff by name, which suggests a small team rather than a ticket queue
- WhatsApp support. Uncommon among Western hosts, and clearly valued by Indian customers
What Runs Underneath
Shared plans use NVMe SSD storage, a fast solid-state drive that connects straight to the processor bus. They run LiteSpeed, a web server that serves cached pages faster than stock Apache. Databases are MariaDB 10.x.
One spec deserves a check against your stack. The shared plans list PHP 8.0 through 8.3. PHP 8.4 shipped in November 2024 and 8.5 in November 2025, so neither is offered. PHP 8.3 still gets security fixes, so this isn’t dangerous. It does mean software needing a newer PHP won’t run.
Data Center Locations
Shared hosting runs from India and Canada. VPS instances sit in India, dedicated servers in the US. Third-party listings name Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Montreal, and Kansas City. The company publishes no consolidated list, so working out where your site sits takes digging.
Location matters more here than usual. Indian visitors get noticeably lower round-trip time from an Indian data center. If your audience sits in Europe or the US, you’re choosing between a Canadian server and nothing.
Performance Expectations
Independent testing is thin, but consistent in direction. One long-running benchmark review recorded a 3.8-second average load time from Mumbai, and a 2.7-second global average. The same tests measured 99.75% uptime over 30 days and 99.83% over two months. Both sit below the 99.9% Host IT Smart advertises.
A separate expert benchmark of their VPS reported strong sequential reads and weaker writes. Read that as fine for a brochure site, thin for anything write-heavy.
Customer Experience
Four platforms, four different verdicts. Two rate Host IT Smart 4.4 and 4.5 out of 5, a third gives it 4.0, and the fourth scores it 3.4 out of 10. Why the gap? It tracks which product people bought.
The largest profile holds 197 reviews and averages 4.4. Here’s the distribution that average hides. 157 are 5-star (79.7%), 11 are 4-star, exactly one is 3-star, one is 2-star, and 27 are 1-star (13.7%). Almost nobody lands in the middle. Customers either have a quiet cheap year or a bad one.
Two more things about that corpus. First, 93% of reviews arrived organically rather than by invitation, which is unusual and counts in the provider’s favour. All 27 one-star reviews are organic. Second, the corpus is old. Only 18 reviews landed in the last twelve months. The busiest year was 2020, with 53. Roughly two-thirds predate 2022.
What Customers Praise
Value dominates. Reviewers who bought shared hosting or a small VPS and left it running are consistently happy. They say so in terms of money, not speed.
Support gets named praise. Individual agents are thanked by name across several years of reviews. Speed over live chat and WhatsApp comes up often, especially from Indian customers. Setup speed recurs too, with several reviewers mentioning accounts provisioned the same day.
Common Complaints
Unannounced downtime is the most repeated complaint, and it spans years. A July 2026 reviewer described “unplanned outages occurring without prior notification.” A 2023 reviewer made the same accusation.
Ticket response time is second. Multiple reviewers report waiting hours on tickets marked high priority, some report days. That sits oddly beside the advertised “3 seconds” live chat response. Technical tickets appear to be a different queue.
Third, VPS performance doesn’t match what was sold. One reviewer documented getting 0.6 Mbps on a connection sold as 100 Mbps. Support told them this was normal, then refused the refund.
Community Feedback (Reddit and Forums)
Here’s an unusual finding. Host IT Smart has effectively no independent community footprint.
Searching Reddit returns the company’s own promotional accounts linking to its product pages, plus a few self-posted threads from 2018. We found no organic thread where customers debate the service, and nothing on the specialist hosting forums where budget providers usually get dissected.
That absence cuts both ways. No pile of horror stories is reassuring for a budget host. But there’s also no independent community to check a claim against. For a host whose review corpus is mostly five years old, that’s a real gap.
What community evidence exists sits in one place: forex and algorithmic trading. Several of the harshest reviews come from traders running MetaTrader strategies on the cheap VPS. They found it too slow or too unstable, and one names a specialist trading provider instead. If that’s your use case, treat it as a warning.
Support Quality
Support runs on phone, live chat, WhatsApp, and tickets, advertised as 24/7. The evidence points to two different experiences.
For account questions, billing, and setup, reviewers call support fast and personable. For an outage or a technical fault, the picture changes. Turnaround slows, and answers don’t always address the question asked. On the largest review profile, the provider averages 14 days to reply.
When to Use Host IT Smart
Host IT Smart makes sense in a few narrow cases.
Ideal For
A first website on a tight budget in India: Basic gives you cPanel, free SSL, and an Indian data center. You also get a free .COM for a year. All under INR 50/mo, renewing at INR 125/mo.
Small Indian businesses that want a phone number: some owners value calling a local number and reaching a named person. That beats a tenth of a second of load time for them. This is where the positive reviews cluster.
Developers who can run their own VPS: INR 299/mo for 1 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, and 50 GB of SSD is competitive. There’s no renewal ambush either, because the renewal price is printed on the card.
You’ll Appreciate It If
- You want monthly billing offered at all, which several budget competitors don’t do
- You want the renewal price before you buy, which this host now prints on every shared and VPS card
- Your audience is Indian, and latency to an Indian data center beats raw benchmark scores for you
When NOT to Use Host IT Smart
No host suits everyone. Several situations point elsewhere.
Look Elsewhere If
You’re buying a dedicated server: the listed processors launched between 2008 and 2012, the memory is DDR2 or DDR3, and storage is SATA. Dedicated servers are also excluded from the 30-day money-back guarantee. On top of that, the terms of service state the company keeps no backups of dedicated services. That’s three risks stacked on one product. Our dedicated server guide covers providers on current hardware.
You’re running forex or algorithmic trading: this is the most repeated failure pattern in the negative reviews. Traders report lag, failed strategy optimisation runs, and bandwidth far below what was sold. See our forex VPS guide for providers built around low-latency trading.
You need a contractual uptime commitment: Host IT Smart advertises a 99.9% uptime guarantee on its shared pages, and 99.99% elsewhere on the site. Its terms of service name no uptime percentage at all, and describe no service credit for missing one. An SLA (Service Level Agreement) that lives only in marketing copy gives you nothing to claim against.
Red Flags for Your Situation
- You need the refund to be simple. First-time signups only, KYC identity check within 24 hours, and no cover for taxes, fees, domains, licences, SSL, or dedicated servers
- You need PHP 8.4 or newer. Shared plans top out at PHP 8.3
- You want to verify who registers your domain. See the transparency section below
- You research a host before buying. There’s almost no independent discussion to read

Host IT Smart Plans and Pricing
Host IT Smart prices in rupees on its main site and dollars on its global storefront. The ratios are identical, so the figures below cover both.
Renewal Warning: the cheapest plans have the steepest jumps. Entry shared hosting at INR 49/mo renews at INR 125/mo, a 2.55x increase. Essential renews at 2.53x. The pattern then inverts. The top Enterprise plan renews at just 1.75x. Buying the cheapest tier gets you the worst renewal deal.
Shared Hosting (3-year term)
- Basic: INR 49/mo (USD 0.67), renews at INR 125/mo (USD 1.70). 10 GB NVMe, 1 website, 5 email accounts
- Essential: INR 99/mo (USD 1.34), renews at INR 250/mo (USD 3.39). 25 GB, 5 websites, 25 email accounts
- Professional: INR 179/mo (USD 2.43), renews at INR 400/mo (USD 5.43). 50 GB, 25 websites
- Enterprise: INR 399/mo (USD 5.42), renews at INR 700/mo (USD 9.50). 100 GB, 50 websites
Every entry price needs a three-year commitment. The storage tiers are honest for the money. 10 GB handles a small WordPress site, and runs out fast on images or video.
VPS Hosting
Self-managed VPS starts at INR 299/mo. That buys 1 vCPU (one virtual processor core), 4 GB RAM, and 50 GB SSD. It renews at INR 600/mo after two years, so 2.01x. The mid tier renews at 1.60x and the top two at 2.23x.
Managed VPS is a different product at a very different price. That same 1 vCPU, 4 GB, 50 GB build costs INR 3,410/mo managed against INR 299/mo self-managed. You pay roughly eleven times the price for administration, not hardware. Check you need it first.
Dedicated Servers
Entry dedicated starts at INR 5,202/mo. This part of the catalogue needs the closest look, because the listed hardware is old.
The cheapest server is a dual Intel Xeon L5420 with 16 GB of DDR2 memory and a 500 GB SATA drive. DDR2 was superseded around 2009. Mid-range boxes run Xeon L5520 chips, the top one an E5-2660. These processors launched between 2008 and 2012, and storage across the range is SATA, not the NVMe on shared plans.
For a file store or an internal tool, hardware age barely matters. Otherwise, compare inside their own catalogue first. The INR 730/mo VPS gives you 4 cores, 16 GB, and 200 GB of SSD. The INR 6,885/mo dedicated gives you 2009-era cores and SATA.
Hidden Costs to Watch
- Domain renewal: INR 1,049/year after the free first year, against INR 999 to register
- VPS backups: INR 100/mo per 10 GB via Acronis, not included
- VPS control panels: Webuzo INR 220/mo, DirectAdmin INR 450/mo, Plesk INR 1,460/mo, cPanel INR 1,660/mo. On a INR 299/mo VPS, cPanel costs over five times the server
- Refunds exclude taxes, fees, domains, panel licences, backups, SSL, and dedicated servers
Pricing Verdict
The shared hosting is priced fairly and disclosed honestly, which beats most competitors. The self-managed VPS is good value if you can administer Linux. The dedicated range is the weak spot: a real monthly sum for old hardware, with no refund if it disappoints.

Host IT Smart Transparency Score
We assess how upfront Host IT Smart is with the information a buyer needs.
- Company Information: Good. The legal entity, the Ahmedabad head office, and a dated company timeline back to April 2012 are all public. Two deductions. The timeline stops in January 2023. And one entry on it doesn’t hold up: it claims “Accredited as an ICANN Registrar” in November 2016. ICANN’s published list of accredited registrars contains no entry for Hosting World Private Limited or Host IT Smart. The company’s own domain is registered through a third-party accredited registrar. Selling domains as a reseller is normal and legal. Calling yourself accredited when the accreditation list doesn’t list you is a different thing.
- Pricing Transparency: Excellent. Renewal prices appear directly on shared and VPS plan cards, with the term stated. Most budget hosts bury this. The one gap is dedicated servers, which show a monthly price and no renewal figure.
- Technical Documentation: Limited. Plan specifications are detailed and clear. Data center locations are scattered across product pages rather than listed together. Dedicated listings give processor models without clarifying storage type.
- Terms and Policies: Limited. The refund policy is written out in full, which is good. But the exclusion list is long, and the 24-hour KYC condition is easy to miss. The advertised uptime guarantee has no matching clause in the terms.
Overall Transparency: mixed, and unusually so. Host IT Smart is more honest about price than most competitors, and less rigorous about the promises that cost money when broken. Buy on price and the paperwork supports you. Buy on the uptime guarantee and there’s nothing behind it.
Alternatives to Host IT Smart
If the gaps above matter to you, these directions address them.
For Better Indian Performance
Several providers with Indian data centers publish performance figures and back their uptime claims with written service credits. If your traffic is Indian and speed matters, compare options in our India hosting guide before signing a three-year term.
For Better Shared Hosting Value
The large international budget hosts charge more at renewal. In return they publish real performance data and staff much bigger support teams. Our shared hosting comparison lays out where each sits.
For WordPress Specifically
This is shared hosting with WordPress preinstalled, not managed WordPress hosting. Managed adds staging sites, automatic core updates, and WordPress-aware caching. If you want those, see our WordPress hosting in India guide.
Host IT Smart does the cheap Indian shared host job competently. It’s a poor choice for anything that has to stay up under pressure.
The Bottom Line
It scores 4.4/5 across 197 reviews. But 13.7% of those are one star, and only 18 arrived in the last year. Customers either barely notice this host or actively regret it. The shared plans earn their price and disclose their renewals honestly. The dedicated line runs 2008 to 2012 hardware with no refund and no backups.
Buy the shared hosting if you’re in India and money is tight. Buy the self-managed VPS if you can run Linux. Skip the dedicated servers, and don’t run a trading strategy on any of it.
For more options, see our India hosting guide, which compares providers serving the same market.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Host IT Smart good for beginners?
Yes, for a first website. You get cPanel, the industry-standard hosting control panel, plus one-click WordPress and a free domain for a year. Support answers on WhatsApp and by phone. Just watch the three-year commitment needed for the advertised price.
Is Host IT Smart worth the price?
On shared hosting, yes. Basic costs INR 49/mo and renews at INR 125/mo, which is still cheap. On dedicated servers, no. You pay a real monthly sum for 2008 to 2012 hardware, and the plan is excluded from the refund guarantee.
What do customers complain about most?
Three things, in order. Servers going down without warning. Slow ticket responses when something breaks, despite fast pre-sales chat. VPS performance below what was advertised, especially bandwidth. Almost all serious complaints concern VPS and dedicated, not shared hosting.
How does Host IT Smart compare to bigger hosts?
It’s cheaper and smaller. Big international hosts cost more, especially at renewal. They also publish independent performance data and back uptime claims with written credits. Host IT Smart wins on price and renewal transparency. It loses on infrastructure and guarantees.
Is Host IT Smart good for WordPress?
It’s adequate. Plans include one-click WordPress, LiteSpeed caching, and NVMe storage, which covers a normal site. It isn’t managed WordPress hosting, so there’s no staging and no automatic core updates. PHP tops out at 8.3, so check your plugins don’t need newer.
Does Host IT Smart offer refunds?
There’s a 30-day money-back guarantee with real conditions attached. It applies to first-time signups only. You must complete KYC identity verification within 24 hours to stay eligible. It excludes taxes, setup and processing fees, domains, panel licences, backups, SSL, and dedicated servers entirely. Read the exclusions before you rely on it.
