Acronis, a global technology giant with corporate headquarters in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, and international headquarters in Singapore is expanding its network by adding 100 micro data centers.
Acronis Expansion: 100 Micro Data Centers Added
This extension would guarantee that all Acronis Cyber Protection Solutions are available to its customers worldwide. The company has been operating with many collocated and managed data centers in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Australia, and Singapore.
According to Serguei Beloussov, founder and CEO, “micro data centers enable the efficient deployment of edge computing, particularly in emerging markets.” What is edge computing? A distributed computing paradigm in which data processing is located “close to the edge”, as Gartner puts it, or close to where this information is consumed.
In other words, edge computing shortens the distance between computation and data storage to improve response times and save bandwidth. The idea of edge computing is to optimize Internet devices and web apps by bringing computing closer to the data sources.
“The rise of edge computing around the world means more data is now created and used away from company networks,” Beloussov says in the official announcement.
What does the expansion mean for Acronis? The process should help the company extend its cyber protection solutions powered by the Acronis Cyber Cloud platform. The services include backup, anti-malware, disaster recovery, secure workplace collaboration, and blockchain-based data authentication.
Acronis was founded in Singapore in 2003 and incorporated in Switzerland in 2008. Since then, the company has gathered more than 1,500 employees in 33 locations in 18 counties. The services in its portfolio are available to over 5.5 million home users and 500,000 companies. It is also noteworthy that the company’s products are available via 50,000 partners and service providers in more than 150 countries in at least 40 languages.
