Swisscom is Switzerland’s largest telecoms and IT company. Telecom PTT became Swisscom on 1 Oktober 1997, and Swisscom Ltd listed on the stock exchange on 5 Oktober 1998. The Swiss Confederation still owns 51% davon. Ab 31 Dezember 2025 the group reported revenue of CHF 15,048 Millionen und 23,266 Angestellte.

That list is the whole story of this review. Im Dezember 2023 Swisscom sent termination letters to its web hosting customers, rund 20,000 contracts by the Swiss trade press count. Swisscom gave its reason to the financial site cash.ch in January 2024: “der Aufwand im Hinblick auf das erreichbare Marktpotential im Bereich Website- und Hosting ist zu gross”. The effort was too large for the market it could reach.

What Swisscom Still Sells

Dynamic Computing Services is the one product a small business can still call hosting. You rent virtual servers, meaning a slice of a physical machine that behaves like your own, und Sie zahlen für das, was Sie nutzen. Swisscom guarantees 99.9% availability on it and lets you cancel at any time.

The catch is who it’s built for. Swisscom’s own DCS price estimate sheet gives two example configurations. Those are real assets, and they explain why Swisscom kept the enterprise side. None of it helps a person who wanted a CHF 10 Hosting-Plan.

Leistungserwartungen

No independent benchmark data exists for Swisscom shared hosting, and none can be produced now. The platform is gone. For DCS, Swisscom publishes a 99.9% Verfügbarkeitsgarantie, but no third-party speed or uptime tests exist. We’d rather say that plainly than invent numbers.

Swisscom’s own residential contact page backs them up. It leads with an app, a digital assistant and the community forum, not a phone number.

Dritte: automatic contract changes, such as a child’s subscription converting to an adult tariff. These are telecoms complaints, not hosting complaints. Weigh them that way.

Community-Feedback (Reddit & Foren)

Reddit has almost nothing on Swisscom hosting. A search across every subreddit returns a handful of posts, none discussing the product on its merits. That silence is informative: developers never chose this host.

What Reddit does have is the aftermath. In a June 2025 r/Switzerland thread, a company moved from Swisscom to localsearch listed three problems: an invoice dispute unresolved after a year, a contact who stopped answering, and a domain transfer code that never arrived. Another user replied that a lawyer’s registered letter produced the code within days. A separate November 2024 thread collects complaints about localsearch sales practices from Swiss business owners.

The Swisscom community forum is more specific. Im Mai 2024, days after the migration, customers posted that neither their website nor their e-mail worked. One quoted localsearch’s auto-reply promising a five to seven working day response time. A long-time member wrote that Swisscom support “answered immediately” im Vergleich, then cancelled and moved elsewhere. A Swiss IT consultant in the same thread identified the new mail servers as green.ch infrastructure. Our own DNS and RIPE checks confirm it.

Support-Qualität

Swisscom support has two reputations. In consumer telecoms, reviewers report long hotline waits and a voice menu they dislike, offset by good in-store help. Beim Hosting, the forum verdict was that Swisscom’s own support was decent and the successor’s wasn’t.

On the business side, the DCS Basic SLA covers weekdays from 7 morgens. zu 6 p.m. If your server fails on a Saturday, that contract does not promise anyone will look at it.

When to Use Swisscom

Swisscom is a reasonable choice in a narrow set of cases.

Swiss companies with a data sovereignty requirement: seven Swiss data centres, one of them Tier IV certified, with data held under Swiss jurisdiction. For a bank, a clinic or a public body, that is often the whole decision.

Businesses that want one vendor for connectivity and compute: DCS plugs into Swisscom’s Enterprise WAN. Your office network and your servers then sit with one supplier, on one invoice.

Organisations with unpredictable capacity needs: usage-based billing with no minimum term suits seasonal load better than a fixed server contract.

It tells visitors their migration runs “bis Ende August 2024” and offers a free migration worth CHF 1,990.

Nein. Swisscom cancelled its web hosting, e-mail hosting, domain and website builder contracts in December 2023 and shut the services down on 31 Kann 2024. The product pages now return a 404 Error. Its SME catalogue lists internet, Microsoft 365, cloud and security, with no hosting entry.

What happened to Swisscom hosting customers?

They were moved to other companies. Swisscom named two of its own subsidiaries, localsearch and MTF Solutions, plus the partners Serv24 and Global IP Action for domains. Migration was free except at Global IP Action, which charged CHF 9.50 pro Konto. Swiss trade press put the number of affected contracts at roughly 20,000.

Is Swisscom worth the price?
