What LWS Sells, and the Company Behind It

LWS (ライン Web サービス) is a French host and domain registrar that dates its brand to 1999. It sells shared hosting on Linux, ウィンドウズ (ASP.NET) およびcPanel, plus WordPress, WooCommerce and Node.js plans. Above that sit VPS, cloud and Private Cloud servers, email and online storage. Its site claims 680,000 hosted sites and more than 4,500 サーバー.

The company behind the brand is smaller than that history suggests. That’s an advantage if your visitors are in France or nearby, and a cost if they aren’t. French data residency also matters for some public bodies and regulated businesses. LWS’s data center page says the facilities are certified ISO 27001 およびHDS (France’s health-data hosting standard).

When NOT to Use LWS

The weak spots show up in the contract and outside Europe, not on the sales page.

You need uptime you can claim against. The 99.99% figure appears in the marketing only. The general terms say LWS has only a duty of best efforts. Service credits apply only where product terms set a service level, and neither the shared nor the VPS terms do.

Your visitors are outside Europe. All hosting is in France. From Montreal the round trip was 92.6 MS, and from Tokyo 257.9 MS.

For a written uptime commitment, Infomaniak’s managed cloud server is the better buy. For North American visitors, OVHcloud can place shared hosting in Canada.

LWS Plans and Pricing
