DiscountASP.NET has sold Windows hosting since 2003. Frank Cheung and Takeshi Eto founded it in the Los Angeles area, according to its history page. So who gains from which location? The pattern is simple. North American visitors are better served from Los Angeles. For London and Hamburg, Nuremberg cuts the delay to between a fifth and a ninth. Tel Aviv’s drops by about two thirds. Asia-Pacific and South American visitors are far from both, so a CDN (a content delivery network that caches pages near visitors) would help them most.
