DiscountASP.NET advertises one Windows hosting plan at USD 10 a month. That price buys a .NET site without HTTPS or a SQL Server database. Add both and the list price triples to USD 30 a month. Customers still rate the host highly: our Average Score is 4.7, based on 298 reviews examined.
We built this review from DiscountASP.NET’s own plan page, checkout, terms and knowledge base, all read in October 2026. We added the 200 newest Trustpilot reviews and every Reddit thread we could find. We didn’t buy hosting or contact support. Our one first-hand test was a network latency check from home connections in 10 countries. Most pages ranking for this host quote the USD 10 headline and stop there. We priced a working site instead, and we traced where the European servers actually are.
Our verdict in brief: DiscountASP.NET is a capable, long-running specialist for classic ASP.NET and .NET 10 sites on Windows. Customers praise its support and its stability. Complaints focus on add-on fees, slow ticket replies and a dated feel. It suits developers who need IIS and SQL Server managed for them and who can absorb about USD 30 a month.

DiscountASP.NET moved its European hosting from London to Hetzner servers in Germany; its knowledge-base article on the migration was created on 19 December 2025. Its pre-sales FAQ still describes a UK data center, so any review that promises UK hosting is out of date.

Features and Services
DiscountASP.NET has sold Windows hosting since 2003. Frank Cheung and Takeshi Eto founded it in the Los Angeles area, according to its history page. Its privacy policy names the owner: Host Collective, Inc., which also runs the Everleap cloud brand. The product range is narrow on purpose. There is one shared ASP.NET plan, hosted Team Foundation Server, and add-ons for databases, SSL and backups.
One Plan, Many Runtimes
The base plan gives you 1,000 MB of disk space and 80 GB of monthly data transfer. Each site runs in its own isolated application pool (a separate IIS worker process, so one site’s crash doesn’t take down another). Full Trust is allowed, which lets your code use the complete .NET permission set. That still matters for older apps that load COM components or write to the file system.
Runtime coverage is the real selling point. The plan page lists .NET 10 down to .NET 5, ASP.NET 4.8 down to 2.0, Classic ASP 3.0, PHP 8.x and node.js. DiscountASP.NET added .NET 10 hosting on 18 November 2025. A 2008-era Web Forms app and a new Blazor app can share one account.
Tools Developers Mention
The control panel is DiscountASP.NET’s own build, with an API for accounts, DNS and SQL backups. It includes a live ASP.NET version switcher, IIS Manager access, Web Deploy publishing and a scheduled task tool. Long-term customers on Trustpilot single out this panel and the knowledge base. Email runs on SmarterMail with 500 mailboxes but only 500 MB of email storage. Free migration covers site files, MS SQL and MySQL databases and SSL certificates.
Some of the catalogue is long out of Microsoft support. SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services is still sold as an add-on, although Microsoft ended SQL Server 2012 support in July 2022. Hosted TFS is offered in versions 2015, 2013, 2012 and 2010. Microsoft’s support for TFS 2015, the newest of them, ended in October 2025.
Data Center Locations: Los Angeles and Now Nuremberg
DiscountASP.NET says it runs two data centers, one in Southern California and one in Europe. The US servers we found all sit on Host Collective’s own network in the Los Angeles area. That covers 28 web servers, the SQL Server machines and the mail servers.
Europe is where things changed. The old European web servers sat on Equinix’s network in London. The new ones, named euweb01 and euweb02, sit on Hetzner’s network, and the router just before them carries a Nuremberg location code. DiscountASP.NET’s European SQL servers are on the same Hetzner range. A support article titled “Known issues related to new EU Data Center Migration” confirms the move. It says the “new data center provider blocks outbound port 25”, so apps must send mail on port 587.

The boxed line names a new data center provider for Europe. The article’s footer dates its creation to 19 December 2025. Source: DiscountASP.NET knowledge base, captured 6 October 2026.
The pre-sales FAQ still headlines its European facility as “(UK)”. When we checked on 6 October 2026, the three old London web servers refused connections on all four ports we tried. If UK data residency matters to you, ask support in writing where a new account would be placed.
Performance Expectations
We measured how fast each data center answers from home and mobile internet connections, using Globalping’s free probes on 6 October 2026. The German server ignores ping, so we timed TCP connections to port 443 instead (one network round trip). Each probe sent 10 connection attempts to a Los Angeles web server and to a Nuremberg web server. This shows network reach only. It doesn’t measure page load speed, server power or how a busy shared server behaves.
| Probe location (network) | Los Angeles server (ms) | Nuremberg server (ms) |
|---|---|---|
| Philadelphia, US (Verizon) | 76.58 | 107.9 |
| Markham, Canada (TelMAX) | 57.69 | 96.39 |
| London, UK (BT) | 140.3 | 24.6 |
| Hamburg, Germany (Deutsche Telekom) | 179.1 | 19.86 |
| Tel Aviv, Israel (Hot-Net) | 207.2 | 64.46 |
| Aizawl, India (Hyosec) | 250.9 | 209.1 |
| Tokyo, Japan (KDDI) | 156.9 | 293.9 |
| Brisbane, Australia (Aussie Fibre) | 175.6 | 338.5 |
| Sao Paulo, Brazil (Telefonica) | 175.5 | 224.4 |
| Cape Town, South Africa (RSAWEB) | 286.3 | 167.3 |

Orange bars show the new European location in Nuremberg; blue bars show Los Angeles. Source: our Globalping measurements, 6 October 2026.
So who gains from which location? The pattern is simple. North American visitors are better served from Los Angeles. For London and Hamburg, Nuremberg cuts the delay to between a fifth and a ninth. Tel Aviv’s drops by about two thirds. Asia-Pacific and South American visitors are far from both, so a CDN (a content delivery network that caches pages near visitors) would help them most.
We found no independent benchmark covering DiscountASP.NET’s shared servers. The plan page lists “99.9% uptime”, and a Trustpilot reviewer in August 2026 reported 100% uptime over six months. Older reviews tell a rougher story, including a 2019 customer whose site went down for three hours twice in one week. The bigger issue is contractual, as the Transparency section below shows.
Customer Experience
The review record is positive but going quiet. Trustpilot shows a 4.8 score from 302 reviews, with 81.5% five-star and 5.3% one- or two-star ratings. Only 2 of those reviews arrived in the last 12 months.

Orange bars mark the 17 reviews published since January 2023. Source: Trustpilot, the 200 newest reviews, read 6 October 2026.
| Year | 2017 | 2018 | 2019 | 2020 | 2021 | 2022 | 2023 | 2024 | 2025 | 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Trustpilot reviews | 36 | 28 | 29 | 27 | 13 | 26 | 10 | 4 | 1 | 2 |
Counts come from the 200 newest Trustpilot reviews, read on 6 October 2026; 2026 runs to that date. Only 17 reviews have appeared since January 2023. One detail works in DiscountASP.NET’s favour. The 55 reviews written without an invitation average 4.65 stars, while the 128 invited reviews average 4.58. That gap is tiny, so invitations aren’t propping up the score.
What Keeps Customers Loyal
Tenure stands out. Recent five-star reviews come from people who’ve stayed seven, ten or more years. They praise knowledgeable support staff, stability, and a control panel one reviewer said let them set up database hosting on day one. One August 2026 reviewer reported 100% uptime in six months. A May 2026 reviewer called the support team the best they’d ever used.
Where It Falls Short
Twelve of the 200 newest reviews give one or two stars, and three themes repeat. More than half of them complain about support: slow replies, generic answers or long lists of steps. Billing comes next. A March 2024 reviewer listed paid SSL, paid backups and other extras as “hidden fees”. Two older reviews describe accounts suspended or cancelled after a payment problem, which took email down with them. A 2023 reviewer summed up the platform as “1999 systems”.
Reddit and the Developer Crowd
Reddit barely discusses DiscountASP.NET; our search on 6 October 2026 found no substantive thread from 2025 or 2026. In a 2022 r/webhosting thread, a developer looking for ASP.NET hosting called it “way too expensive”. A January 2026 r/csharp thread described Everleap’s forums, run by the same company, as “a ghost town”. Replies there pointed to SmarterASP.NET or a Linux VPS running .NET and SQL Server Express. Several replies across these threads suggest skipping Windows hosting for modern .NET.
How Support Works
Support runs through a ticket portal and email. There’s no live chat, and the phone number on the contact page explicitly can’t handle support or billing. DiscountASP.NET promises to answer technical tickets within 24 hours. Billing staff work Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time.

The boxed sentence is the response promise; billing hours sit at the bottom. Source: DiscountASP.NET support page, captured 6 October 2026.
Reviewers describe quick replies on a good day and waits of three to four hours on a bad one. That’s fine for a developer fixing a deployment. It’s a problem for a shop whose checkout breaks at 6 p.m. on a Friday.
When to Use DiscountASP.NET
DiscountASP.NET makes sense when your app depends on Windows and you’d rather not run the server yourself. These buyers get the most from it:
- Owners of legacy ASP.NET apps. Web Forms on .NET Framework 4.8 or older, Classic ASP, or COM components need IIS and Full Trust. DiscountASP.NET runs them without a VPS to patch.
- Agencies with mixed .NET portfolios. One account can host a 2010 Web Forms site next to a .NET 10 Blazor app, each in its own application pool.
- Developers who want SQL Server managed for them. You get SQL Server 2022 with SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio) remote access, plus backup, restore and attach tools in the panel.
It also fits needs like these:
- A price that won’t jump at renewal: 1.33x, with fees fixed for each term.
- Hosting in the US or central Europe with identical pricing.
- A 30-day refund on the plan and on each add-on you order later.
When NOT to Use DiscountASP.NET
The same narrow focus that suits legacy apps makes it a poor buy for many newer projects. Skip it in these cases:
- You’re on a tight budget. USD 30 a month for a site with a database and HTTPS is about ten times SmarterASP.NET’s USD 2.95 plan, which includes both.
- Your app runs on modern .NET only. .NET 10 runs on Linux, so a small VPS costs less and gives you full control.
- You need UK data residency. The European servers we found are now in Germany, whatever the FAQ says.
- You need fast help at any hour. Tickets only, a 24-hour promise and weekday billing hours.
- You need a written uptime guarantee. The terms contain none.
- You need room to grow. 1,000 MB of disk and 500 MB of email storage fill up fast, and each top-up costs extra.
For cheaper Windows hosting with free SSL and a UK option, SmarterASP.NET is the closer swap. If you need your own Windows server, compare the options in our guide to Windows VPS hosting.

DiscountASP.NET Transparency Score
Company Information: Good. The founders, the Monrovia mailing address and the parent company are all published. You’ll need to read the privacy policy to learn that Host Collective, Inc. owns the business.
Pricing Transparency: Good. Add-on prices are published, and the checkout shows the setup fee, the discount and the total above the personal-details form. Two catches need digging. There’s no monthly billing behind the “USD 10 a month” headline. The plan summary also skips the extra USD 10 for HTTPS.
Technical Documentation: Limited. The FAQ still describes a UK facility after the move to Germany. The plan page lists Windows Server 2019 and 2016, while the checkout offers only “Windows 2022 with IIS 10”. Windows Server 2016 reaches the end of Microsoft’s extended support in January 2027.
Terms and Policies: Good. The refund rules, fee guarantee and cancellation notice are written clearly. The catch is what’s missing. The plan page advertises “99.9% uptime”, but the terms, last updated on 22 May 2018, never mention uptime. Instead, they say the company doesn’t warrant that the service will be uninterrupted.

The boxed clause replaces any uptime promise in the contract. Source: DiscountASP.NET Hosting Terms and Conditions, updated 22 May 2018, captured 6 October 2026.
Overall Transparency: Good on money, Limited on infrastructure. You can work out exactly what you’ll pay. Where your site lives, which Windows version it runs on and what happens during an outage take more effort to pin down.
Alternatives to DiscountASP.NET
The main gaps are price, a written uptime promise and a choice of modern platforms. Each alternative below fixes one of them.
For a Lower Bill on Windows: SmarterASP.NET
SmarterASP.NET charges USD 2.95/mo and renews at the same price, with one SQL Server database and free Let’s Encrypt SSL included. It also has UK, German, Asian and Australian data centers, though its Basic plan caps the application pool at 256 MB.
For Scale and a Written SLA: Azure App Service
Microsoft’s own platform costs more, at USD 0.075 an hour for a Basic B1 Windows instance in West US. That’s about USD 54.75 for a 730-hour month, before any database. It includes free managed certificates, many regions and a service level agreement Microsoft publishes.
For Modern .NET on a Budget: Hetzner Cloud
If your app runs on .NET 10, a Linux server at Hetzner costs EUR 5.49/mo for a CX23, excluding the IPv4 address. You manage everything yourself. Hetzner’s network also hosts DiscountASP.NET’s new European servers.
DiscountASP.NET earns our Average Score of 4.7 from 298 reviews examined, and the reviews explain why. Its support knows .NET, its platform runs almost any ASP.NET version, and loyal customers stay for a decade. But a working site costs USD 30 a month at list. The European data center has quietly moved to Germany, and the terms promise no uptime at all.
Buy it if you maintain legacy ASP.NET or mixed-version apps and value expert, unhurried support over price. Choose SmarterASP.NET if cost matters most, and a Linux server if your code already runs on modern .NET. Before you commit, compare the field in our roundup of the best ASP.NET hosting.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does DiscountASP.NET cost after the first year?
The base plan renews at USD 120 a year, after a USD 90 first year on the annual plan. Quarterly billing costs USD 30 every three months. Add SSL and a SQL Server database and you’ll pay USD 30 a month at list.
Why do some customers call DiscountASP.NET expensive?
Most essentials are paid add-ons. HTTPS costs USD 10 a month, each SQL Server database another USD 10, and off-site backups extra. A March 2024 reviewer called them “hidden fees” and noted that most other hosts give SSL away free.
Does DiscountASP.NET give you free SSL?
No. You need the SSL add-on at USD 10 a month, which includes a RapidSSL certificate and a unique IP. Its knowledge base has no Let’s Encrypt option.
DiscountASP.NET or SmarterASP.NET: which suits a small .NET app?
SmarterASP.NET, for most small apps. It costs USD 2.95/mo with SQL Server and free SSL included. DiscountASP.NET makes sense when you value its long-serving .NET support team over price.
Can a Node.js or PHP site run on DiscountASP.NET?
Yes, within limits. The plan lists PHP 8.x and node.js, and MySQL is a USD 5 add-on. These run on Windows, though, so a Linux host suits a pure PHP or Node.js project better.
How quickly does support reply, and can I get a refund?
DiscountASP.NET promises to answer tickets within 24 hours, with no phone or live chat. Refunds are available for 30 days on the plan and on each add-on. Domains and one-time fees are excluded.
