Seitdem verkauft das Unternehmen norwegisches Hosting 1999 from Honningsvag in Finnmark, with a second office and its servers in Oslo.
This review draws on published prices, aggregated customer ratings, and Norwegian community discussion. We also did something most reviews skip. We read Nordhost’s public incident log and its price-change notices, then compared a year of archived price lists against the live one. That tells you whether today’s prices are the prices customers actually pay.
Gesamtbewertung: NordkappNett scores 4.9/5 über 162 Bewertungen, mit 95% Bewerte es mit fünf Sternen. Strengths are fast Norwegian-language support and pricing with no promotional trickery. Weak points are a small review sample, a 12-month commitment, and add-on fees that mount up. Best suited for Norwegian small businesses that want a local host they can phone.

Kundendienst
Funktionen und Dienste
Nordhost runs a narrow product line. No reseller program, kein Windows-Hosting, keine dedizierten Server. What it does sell, it sells in Norwegian, on hardware in Oslo.
Angebotene Hosting-Typen
- Shared Hosting – vier Ebenen, from domain parking up to a pro plan on dedicated hardware
- Lifetime hosting – the Web50 plan bought outright, one payment instead of an annual fee
- CloudVPS – virtuelle private Server, three sizes
- Co-location – rack space in the Oslo facility for hardware you own
- Serverdrift – managed Linux operation, on their servers or yours
- Domains and website builder – most common extensions, plus a drag-and-drop builder
Wichtige Funktionen, die Kunden hervorheben
- DirectAdmin-Systemsteuerung (a hosting control panel, leichter als cPanel) – auf jedem Plan, einschließlich der billigsten
- Nightly backups via JetBackup (a tool for restoring files yourself from the panel) – inbegriffen, kein Add-on
- LiteSpeed on the top tier (a web server that handles simultaneous visitors better than Apache) – Pro100 only
Standorte von Rechenzentren
Everything sits in Oslo. Server hostnames follow an “osl1” pattern, and the CloudVPS platform is a cluster with failover between nodes. For a Norwegian audience that’s the point. A visitor in Trondheim reaches the server in milliseconds, and data stays in Norway for organisations that must say so in writing.
The limitation is equally clear. Ein Standort, and no content delivery network of its own (a CDN caches your files near each visitor).
Leistungserwartungen
Nordhost guarantees 99.8% uptime and self-reports 99.999% for the trailing 30 Tage. Read the guarantee carefully though. In the terms it covers internet access, power and cooling at the data center. It’s a facility guarantee, not a promise about your site.
You don’t have to take their word for it. Nordhost runs a public incident log with 17 resolved entries, each timestamped, several with a written root cause. That’s rare at this size. The recent entries tell a fair story:
- 24 April 2026, 11:21 zu 11:41 – the web23.osl1 server went down for 20 minutes after an attack flooded it with requests
- 3 Kann 2026 – most servers restarted for a security patch, 5 zu 10 minutes each
- 8 Juni 2026, 08:06 zu 09:00 – customers couldn’t log in to email for about an hour
- 9 August 2026, 01:00 zu 06:00 – planned network upgrade adding IPv6, virtual machines powered off throughout
- 11 August 2026, 06:19 zu 07:11 – a 52-minute network failure across cloud and shared hosting
That outage got a same-day post-mortem. An automatic security update restarted the network service on some nodes, wiping an internal route that carried traffic between them. Their supplier now restores the route automatically and has disabled automatic updates on those machines.
So how good is that record? EIN 99.8% guarantee allows about 89 minutes of downtime in a 31-day month, and one August incident used 52. Acceptable rather than spotless, and a host publishing that openly still beats one publishing nothing.
One caveat before you order a VPS. The CloudVPS page says the packages are being rebuilt on AMD Epyc processors, claimed to be 30 zu 50% faster than the Intel chips they replace. It adds that prices are correct but “the ordering is not fully updated.” Ask what hardware you’ll land on.
Kundenerfahrung
NordkappNett holds 4.9 aus 5 über 162 Kundenbewertungen. The distribution is lopsided: 95% Fünf Sterne, 4% Vier Sterne, nothing at three or two, und darunter 1% bei einem Stern.
Read that with the sample size in mind. PRO ISP, a mid-sized Norwegian competitor, trägt 1,412 Bewertungen unter 3.7/5, 15% davon ein Stern. A near-perfect score from a small, self-selecting group tells you less than a mediocre score from a large one. It does say something real about a company this size: almost nobody has bothered to complain.
Was Kunden loben
Die Unterstützungsgeschwindigkeit dominiert. Reviewers describe same-day replies as normal, next-day as the exception. Several got help in the evening or at a weekend without paying for a priority plan.
The second theme is competence rather than politeness. Reviews about domain transfers and email migrations, the two jobs most likely to go wrong, are consistently positive. One describes a website transfer handled over a weekend to hit a deadline. Several reviewers cite a decade or more as customers.
Häufige Beschwerden
There isn’t much of a negative pile to analyse, which is worth stating plainly. With under 1% of reviews at one star, we can’t report a pattern of serious complaints, because the data doesn’t show one.
The criticism that does appear is about language. Ein März 2024 reviewer asked for better English communication. The company says it addressed this, but the site, knowledge base and video tutorials remain primarily Norwegian.
An independent reviewer hit a different problem. They tried live chat without reaching anyone, then submitted the contact form and got no reply. One data point against a large volume saying the opposite, but it belongs in the record. Norwegian forums also call Nordhost expensive. Nobody accuses them of hiding it.
Community-Feedback (Reddit und Foren)
Nordhost barely registers on Reddit, as you’d expect from a Norwegian company this size. Norwegian discussion happens on domestic technology forums, also haben wir dort nachgeschaut.
Ein Dezember 2023 thread is useful because it has a follow-up. The original poster was weighing Nordhost against alternatives. They returned on 4 März 2025 to report: “Jeg kjopte webhotell hos Nordhost, og er svaert fornoyd!” Das bedeutet “I bought hosting from Nordhost and I’m very satisfied.” They singled out fast servers and evening support.
Another user had left a different Norwegian host after problems, and reported two trouble-free months. A third confirmed the servers really are in Oslo, correcting a geolocation lookup that pointed to Germany. The candid finding isn’t a scandal: Nordhost recurs in Norwegian discussion as a local option rather than a cheap one.
Support-Qualität
Der Support läuft per E-Mail, Fahrkarte, Live-Chat und Telefon, free in office hours. EIN 24/7 emergency line takes fault reports year-round, and holiday hours go up on the status page.
One detail to understand before you call. That line is free for reporting faults and for customers with a service agreement. Ohne eins, if the fault turns out not to be theirs, they can bill NOK 3,125 plus time at consulting rates. It’s on the price list rather than buried, but it surprises anyone who skims.
When to Use NordkappNett
Ideal für
Norwegian small businesses that want to speak Norwegian: Der Kernfall. Support answers in Norwegian, invoices come in kroner, servers are in Oslo. If your accountant, developer and staff all work in Norwegian, a host that doesn’t is daily friction.
Organisations that need data inside Norway: Municipal bodies, healthcare-adjacent businesses, anyone whose procurement checklist asks where data sits. One location limits performance, but it’s a clean compliance answer.
People who hate price surprises: Registrieren, transfer and renew cost the same, and prices have moved once since April 2025, by under 2%.
Long-horizon site owners: The lifetime plan breaks even at five years. For a site you’ll keep a decade, GENUG 3,750 once beats NOK 750 ein Jahr.
Sie werden es zu schätzen wissen, wenn
- You’re moving a WordPress, Joomla, Drupal or Magento site, because migration is free for new customers
- You want to audit a host’s reliability record, because the incident log is public
- You’re outgrowing shared hosting, because the VPS range has no binding period beyond the billing cycle
When NOT to Use NordkappNett
Kein Gastgeber passt zu jedem. Skip this one if any of the following describes you.
Schauen Sie woanders hin, wenn
You’re shopping on price: GENUG 750 a year is several times what budget international hosts charge. You’re paying for locality and stability. If neither matters, Du bezahlst zu viel. Unser Shared-Hosting-Leitfaden deckt günstigere Optionen ab.
Your audience is outside Scandinavia: One Oslo data center means visitors in North America or Asia wait longer. A multi-region provider will serve them better.
Sie benötigen dedizierte Server, Windows-Hosting, or a reseller account: None is on the menu, and the terms prohibit reselling outright. Sehen Sie sich unsere an Handbuch für dedizierte Server.
You work only in English: Support handles English, but the knowledge base and tutorials are Norwegian. EIN 2024 customer raised this and the material hasn’t fully changed.
Warnsignale für Ihre Situation
- You want monthly billing on shared hosting: The contract runs 12 months and renews automatically. Only CloudVPS escapes this.
- You cancel things at the last minute: The terms give two different notice periods, 30 days in one clause and 15 in einem anderen. Assume 30 and you’re safe.
- You’re ordering a VPS this month: The range is mid-migration to new AMD hardware, and ordering hasn’t caught up.

NordkappNett Plans and Pricing
Nordhost prices in Norwegian kroner and shows every figure twice, before and after VAT (25% in Norwegen). Conversions use NOK 9.3213 in USD 1, der Tarif auf 14 September 2026.
Wichtig, and not the warning you’re expecting: there is no renewal shock here. Nordhost runs no promotional first-year pricing on hosting or domains. A .no domain costs NOK 100 registrieren, GENUG 100 to transfer in, und NIO 100 zu erneuern. Web50 costs NOK 600 in year one and NOK 600 im fünften Jahr. Der Verlängerungsmultiplikator beträgt 1,0x. What costs you is the structure: hosting bills 12 Monate am Stück, cancellation notice is strict, and routine tasks carry separate fees.
Shared Hosting
Parkering: NOK 40/year ex VAT, GENUG 50 inkl. Umsatzsteuer (US Dollar 5). 10 GB Speicher, 200 GB-Verkehr, 15 E-mail Konten, eine Domäne. No website, keine Datenbanken. A domain-and-email holding plan.
Web50: NOK 600/year ex VAT, GENUG 750 inkl. Umsatzsteuer (US Dollar 80). 50 GB Speicher, freier Verkehr, eine Domäne, Datenbanken, Subdomains, PHP, SSH-Zugang. Apache.
Web100: NOK 1,000/year ex VAT, GENUG 1,250 inkl. Umsatzsteuer (US Dollar 134). 100 GB Speicher, bis zu 10 Domänen, Apache.
Pro100: NOK 2,500/year ex VAT, GENUG 3,125 inkl. Umsatzsteuer (US Dollar 335). 100 GB, bis zu 50 Domänen, LiteSpeed statt Apache, vorrangige Unterstützung, free email migration, plus Python, Java, Ruby and NodeJS. Pro accounts sit on servers with a capped customer count.
Web50 Lifetime: GENUG 3,000 exkl. MwSt, GENUG 3,750 inkl. Umsatzsteuer (US Dollar 402), paid once. Break-even against the annual price is exactly five years, and past that it’s free. Zwei Dinge zum Abwägen. You’re betting the company outlives your website, and handing the account to a new owner within five years costs NOK 1,238.
CloudVPS
Prices are for monthly billing. Quarterly billing takes 10% aus.
- CloudVPS-M: NOK 269/mo incl. Umsatzsteuer (US Dollar 29). 1 vCPU (a virtual processor core), 4 GB RAM, von 10 GB-Festplatte, 1,000 GB-Übertragung
- CloudVPS-L: NOK 513/mo incl. Umsatzsteuer (US Dollar 55). 2 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, von 10 GB-Festplatte
- CloudVPS-XL: NOK 994/mo incl. Umsatzsteuer (US Dollar 107). 4 vCPU, 16 GB RAM, von 10 GB-Festplatte
Each includes one IPv4 address, optional IPv6 and SSD storage. The control panel is built on OpenStack (an open-source cloud platform) and handles reboots, traffic stats and backups. There’s no binding period beyond the billing cycle you pick, which makes the VPS range more flexible than the shared hosting.
Co-location and Managed Servers
Co-location starts at NOK 1,238/mo incl. Umsatzsteuer (US Dollar 133), managed Linux operation at NOK 1,875/mo (US Dollar 201). Both are quoted “von,” so expect a conversation, not a checkout button.
Versteckte Kosten, die es zu beachten gilt
- Domänen: extra on every plan. .no is NOK 125/year incl. Umsatzsteuer (US Dollar 13), .com NOK 200, .eu NOK 188. Registrieren, transfer and renew cost the same.
- E-Mail-Migration: GENUG 488 pro Domain (US Dollar 52) on Parkering, Web50 and Web100, free on Pro100. Website migration is free, email is not, and that catches people out.
- Backup-Wiederherstellung: GENUG 375 per job (US Dollar 40). Nightly backups are free, but having one put back costs money. The standard job drops files into a temporary folder for you to move.
- Extra backup storage: NOK 369/mo per 50 GB (US Dollar 40)
- Reopening a suspended account: GENUG 738 (US Dollar 79)
- Consulting: NOK 1,500/hour in office hours (US Dollar 161), GENUG 3,000 out of hours
- SSL: kostenlos über Let’s Encrypt, which covers almost everyone. Paid certificates start at NOK 1,431/year.
Preisurteil
Against the Norwegian market, Nordhost is competitive rather than cheap. Domeneshop, the largest .no registrar, charges NOK 828 ein Jahr für 20 GB. Web50 costs NOK 750 zum 50 GB, and undercuts it on domains too, GENUG 125 a year for .no against NOK 209. Against international budget hosts it isn’t close, but those won’t give you a Norwegian phone number.
Which brings us to the number that matters most. NordkappNett raised its shared hosting prices on 30 April 2025, and has not moved them since. Web50 went from NOK 590 zu 600 and Pro100 from 2490 zu 2500, both ex VAT. Parkering rose hardest, from NOK 29 zu 40. New customers paid the new rate immediately, existing ones from 1 Juli 2025. We checked archived price lists from September, Oktober, November and December 2025, then January, April and May 2026, against the live page. Web50 has read NOK 600 hindurch. Das ist ein 1.7% rise held flat for well over a year, in a market where annual increases are routine.

NordkappNett Transparency Score
- Firmeninformation: Exzellent. Legal entity, organisation number, Gründungsjahr, both office addresses and the founder’s name are public. The footer states the NordkappNett and Nordhost relationship openly.
- Preistransparenz: Exzellent. Every figure appears twice, before and after VAT. Renewal prices equal registration prices, so there’s nothing to conceal. Price rises get a dated public notice showing old and new figures.
- Technische Dokumentation: Gut. Plan specifications are clear and the incident log beats most competitors. Two gaps: the data center operator isn’t named, und der 99.999% uptime figure is self-reported.
- Bedingungen und Richtlinien: Gut, with one flaw. The 30-day right of withdrawal is clear, as is the downtime credit of 5% pro 15 minutes beyond the guarantee. But the cancellation notice is 30 days in one clause and 15 in einem anderen.
Gesamttransparenz: Exzellent. The strongest part of the assessment. Nordhost publishes its own outages with post-mortems, dates its price rises with before-and-after figures, and shows VAT both ways. The cancellation contradiction is the one blemish.
Alternatives to NordkappNett
For a Larger Norwegian Provider: Domeneshop
Domeneshop has operated since 1996, holds over 40% of the .no domain market and runs its servers in Oslo. Entry hosting is NOK 69/month incl. Umsatzsteuer. That’s more than Web50 annually for less storage, but with a bigger operation behind it. Sehen Sie sich unsere an Webhosting-Leitfaden für Norwegen.
Zu günstigeren Preisen: International Budget Hosts
If Norwegian servers aren’t a requirement, European budget providers undercut NordkappNett by a wide margin, often with monthly billing. You trade away Norwegian support and local data residency. Fine for a hobby site, rarely for a business that needs to phone someone.
For Serious VPS Workloads: Larger Nordic Cloud Platforms
CloudVPS-M gives you 1 vCPU und 4 GB of RAM for NOK 269/month. Larger Nordic and European platforms match that with more regions, published benchmarks and per-hour billing. If you need to scale, Beginnen Sie mit unserem Norway VPS hosting comparison.
NordkappNett is a small, ehrlich, regional host that charges a fair Norwegian price and tells the truth about its own outages.
Das Fazit
Mit 4.9/5 über 162 Bewertungen, NordkappNett delivers responsive Norwegian support and pricing you can plan around. What it can’t do is compete on cost or reach. The 1.0x renewal multiplier is the headline: what you pay in year one is what you pay in year six.
Buy it if you’re a Norwegian business wanting local servers and support, and you’d rather pay a steady NOK 750 a year than chase promotions. Don’t buy it if you’re price-shopping, serving a global audience, or you need dedicated servers.
If mail is your main requirement, Beginnen Sie mit unserem E-Mail-Hosting-Leitfaden. Parkering at NOK 50 a year remains among the cheapest professional mailboxes in Norway.
Häufig gestellte Fragen
Is NordkappNett the same company as Nordhost?
Ja. NordkappNett AS is the registered company, organisation number NO985270953MVA, and Nordhost is the brand it trades under. The old nordkappnett.no address redirects to nordhost.no, and every page footer names both.
Is NordkappNett good for beginners?
Ja, if you read Norwegian. Every plan includes the DirectAdmin control panel, WordPress-Installation mit einem Klick, and free migration of an existing site. The catch is the knowledge base and video guides, which are Norwegian only.
Is NordkappNett worth the price?
It depends what you compare it against. At NOK 750 ein Jahr, Web50 costs several times what an international budget host charges. Against Norwegian competitors it’s fair, and it beats Domeneshop on both storage and domain renewal. The real value is stability: no promotional rates means nothing doubles at renewal.
Worüber beschweren sich Kunden am meisten??
Ehrlich, not much. Unter 1% der Bewertungen sind ein Stern. The recurring criticism is language, since documentation is mostly Norwegian, and one reviewer asked for better English in March 2024. Separat, an independent reviewer got no answer on live chat or the contact form.
Does NordkappNett offer refunds?
Ja. The terms give a 30-day right of withdrawal on all new services. Setup and domain registration fees are excluded. There’s also a downtime credit: 5% back for every 15 minutes of outage beyond the guarantee, capped at one month’s price. You have to claim it.
What is NordkappNett’s lifetime hosting, and is it a good deal?
It’s the Web50 plan bought outright for NOK 3,750 inkl. VAT instead of NOK 750 ein Jahr. Break-even is exactly five years, and past that it’s free. Two things to check. You’re betting the company outlasts your website, and moving the account to a new owner within five years costs NOK 1,238. For a site you’ll keep a decade, die Mathematik funktioniert.
