Host Europe has sold hosting since 1997, and for most of that time it was the safe German pick. Then it spent 2025 moving customers onto platforms they hadn’t asked for. Host Europe halted all further email and hosting migrations on 19 Februar 2026, withdrawing the 30 April 2026 shutdown of its Classic platform. Any review written before that date describes a timetable that no longer exists. The reversal is the most important thing a buyer needs to understand about this host.
Diese Rezension stützt sich auf 6,149 Trustpilot reviews read on 3 August 2026, and on prices pulled live from hosteurope.de the same day. We also read the German threads on borncity, hosttest.de and the Joomla forum. Im Gegensatz zu Affiliate-lastigen Bewertungen, we show the star distribution behind the average. We also show the renewal prices buried in the bundle, and the warning on Host Europe’s own contact page.
Gesamtbewertung: Host Europe scores 4.3 aus 5 über 6,149 Bewertungen, mit 86.9% at five stars and 7.5% at one. Strengths are named, competent phone support and honest published resource limits. The complaints centre on two forced migrations, and on a bundle where the domain, mailbox and SSL all start billing in year two. Best suited to German-speaking small businesses who want a phone number that gets answered.

Funktionen und Dienste
Host Europe sells a narrower range than it used to. Its navigation now lists three server products where it once listed five.
Angebotene Hosting-Typen
- WebHosting: shared hosting on cPanel, a widely used control panel. Vier Ebenen.
- Verwaltetes WordPress: vier Ebenen, plus four “Profi” tiers for multiple sites.
- WebServer: managed cPanel servers with dedicated resources. Vier Ebenen.
- Virtueller Server: nicht verwalteter VPS (virtueller privater Server, a slice of a physical machine with its own operating system), 1 zu 32 vCPU. A managed version is also sold.
- Domänen, SSL-Zertifikate, Titan-powered email and Microsoft 365.
Dedicated servers are no longer sold. Host Europe’s Dedicated Server page last worked on 6 Juli 2024 and has redirected to Virtual Server in every archive capture since 23 November 2024. If you need bare metal, schau woanders.
Wichtige Funktionen, die Kunden hervorheben
- cPanel with SSH and FTPS on every tier. Even the entry plan gets shell access, which most budget hosts reserve for higher tiers.
- Tägliche Backups inklusive. On every WebHosting and WebServer plan, with no add-on fee.
- Published resource limits. Host Europe states 10,240 kBps of disk I/O and a 250,000 file cap per account, eher, als “unbegrenzt”.
- CloudLinux. Software that walls each account off from its neighbours, so one busy site can’t starve yours.
- German-language phone support. Free from landlines in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The entry Standard plan gives you one website and 25 GB NVMe-SSD-Speicher, a faster class of solid-state drive. You also get one CPU core and 512 MB RAM. Dass 512 MB is thin for WordPress with a page builder. Deluxe doubles it for EUR 1.80 mehr pro Monat.
Standorte von Rechenzentren
Here’s where it gets vague. Product pages offer “Europa, Singapore or USA”. The VPS FAQ says “Europa, North America or the Asia-Pacific region”. No page names a country, let alone a city.
It used to. Until 14 Juli 2023 the company page named a Cologne data centre and the datadock facility in Strasbourg. Both were gone by 4 August 2023. For a host whose name rests on European hosting, that omission feeds the data sovereignty complaints below.
Leistungserwartungen
No independent benchmark data for the current cPanel platform surfaced in this research. What we can report is what the company commits to.
Product tables promise 99.9% Verfügbarkeit. The company page carries two different numbers on one screen. A headline tile claims 99.95%, while body text below says 99.9%. The tile is a leftover: Host Europe cut the prose figure in that same July 2023 bearbeiten, and dropped the Netcraft attestation behind it.
The SLA itself is dated March 2022. An SLA, or Service Level Agreement, is the contract defining what happens when things break. The file linked from the security page is named 2022-03-03_Host Europe_SLA 3.7.2_final.pdf. It predates the cPanel platform, the Titan email product and the removal of dedicated servers. Its support commitments are concrete: two hours to respond, four to eight hours to restore.
A public status page runs at status.hosteurope.de. It logs incidents but publishes no uptime figure.
Kundenerfahrung
Host Europe holds a 4.3 TrustScore from 6,149 Trustpilot-Bewertungen. The distribution matters, because the average hides a split:
- 5 Sterne: 5,345 Bewertungen (86.9%)
- 4 Sterne: 211 (3.4%)
- 3 Sterne: 44 (0.7%)
- 2 Sterne: 86 (1.4%)
- 1 Star: 463 (7.5%)
Almost nobody rates Host Europe in the middle. A straight average of those numbers is 4.61, yet the published score is 4.3. Trustpilot weights recent reviews more heavily, so a score below the raw mean means recent months are worse than the history. Host Europe’s own site badge tracked the same slide: 4.8 in June 2023, 4.7 in June 2024, 4.4 im Januar 2026, 4.3 in June 2026.
Then the badge disappeared. It was live on 18 Juni 2026 and gone from every page we checked on 3 August 2026.
Was Kunden loben
The praise is specific, and almost all about people. Reviewers name their support agent. Three names recur through 2026 Bewertungen, thanked for patience and for fixing things on the first call. That pattern is rare and hard to fake.
Phone reachability comes up constantly. “Support telefonisch direkt und schnell erreicht”, wrote one reviewer on 17 Juli 2026. Another praised a weekend response. In a market where most hosts have retired the telephone, this is Host Europe’s real edge.
The technical praise clusters around what the migrations broke: SSL-Zertifikate, DNS-Einträge, MX records, cPanel setup. Read charitably, support is good at cleaning up after the platform.
Häufige Beschwerden
One complaint dominates 2026: the forced move of email to Microsoft 365. Reviewers call it a “Zwangsumstellung”, a compulsory conversion. The grievances are consistent. Mailboxes that came free with older packages now cost around one euro each per month. Thunderbird and other non-Microsoft clients stopped working. Several reviewers lost mailbox access outright, and one describes rebuilding a tax return after losing archived mail.
Second is the cPanel migration. A customer of nearly 20 years wrote that SSL certificates which used to bind automatically now need downloading and re-uploading by hand. Another hit a database size limit that hadn’t existed before.
Third is billing enforcement. Several one-star reviews describe services switched off over small sums. One reports a EUR 27 failed PayPal payment leading to deletion of the webspace and all backups. Another describes EUR 35 of arrears ending in a cancelled site. Judge each case as you like. The pattern appears often enough to count as a risk.
Community-Feedback (Reddit & Foren)
Reddit carries almost no Host Europe discussion. That tells you something: this is a German-market host, and its customers argue about it in German. The real venues are IT blogs and specialist forums, and they’re blunter than Trustpilot.
Borncity published a first-hand cPanel migration account on 14 Oktober 2025. The reader reported roughly three days of downtime. Joomla and Nextcloud configuration files were rewritten without notice, with changed database credentials. cPanel reported one PHP version while the server ran another. Several commenters said they’d left for Hetzner or all-inkl.
A Joomla forum thread from 16 zu 19 Dezember 2025 shows a subtler failure. Nach der Migration, assets were compressed twice, with gzip and brotli. Browsers returned decoding errors and sites rendered unstyled. The fix was a fresh .htaccess carrying an E=no-brotli:1 directive. A small business owner has no chance of diagnosing that.
The email migration drew fire from an unusual direction. Auf 26 März 2025 the German provider mailbox.org published a statement on it. Moving German customers’ mail into Microsoft’s cloud exposes it to the US CLOUD Act, it argued, whatever the server location. Weigh the commercial interest there. The legal point isn’t controversial.
On hosttest.de, a German hosting review site, Host Europe scores 1.5 aus 5 von 18 Bewertungen. The split is 77.8% Ein-Stern und 22.2% Drei Sterne, with nothing at four or five. That’s a small, self-selected corpus, so it isn’t representative. It is a useful counterweight to Trustpilot.
Support-Qualität
The Trustpilot data shows how the two corpora are built. Von der 20 most recent one-star reviews, 17 organisch angekommen, meaning the customer went there unprompted. Nearly every recent five-star review came through an invitation link sent after a support call. Neither route is dishonest. Both are true. Together they mean the 4.3 average measures Host Europe’s helpdesk more than its hosting.
Two other numbers matter. Host Europe replies to 100% von negativen Bewertungen, Mittelung 5.5 Tage. It also has AI-generated responses switched on, so a machine drafts those replies. And it has turned Trustpilot review collection off entirely.
The most current evidence sits on Host Europe’s own contact page. Auf 3 August 2026 it warns that migrations have raised request volumes, so enquiries may take longer than usual. There’s a dedicated migration phone line. Sales answers Monday to Friday, 9 zu 17. The product table advertises 24/7 Unterstützung.
When to Use Host Europe
Host Europe fits a specific buyer well.
Ideal für
Deutsche, Austrian and Swiss small businesses who want to talk to someone: free landline numbers in all three countries, plus German-speaking agents. The review corpus is full of customers thanking staff by name.
Business customers on long terms: commercial contracts auto-renew for another 24 months at the same price. Your hosting line genuinely doesn’t move. Few hosts can say that.
Developers who want cPanel and real numbers: SSH and FTPS on every tier, published I/O and file limits instead of “unbegrenzt”, und CloudLinux-Isolation. You can size a plan properly because the specifications are honest.
Sie werden es zu schätzen wissen, wenn
- Sie betreiben mehrere kleine Websites. Deluxe-Gastgeber 10 for EUR 7.19/mo, fair for the resources.
- You want domains, hosting and email on one invoice, with the caveat that they’re four contracts.
- You value daily backups with no add-on fee, auf jedem gemeinsamen Plan.
- You need Windows on a VPS. It’s a paid option here, which many European budget hosts skip.
When NOT to Use Host Europe
Kein Gastgeber passt zu jedem. Host Europe is the wrong choice if any of this describes you.
Schauen Sie woanders hin, wenn
You need a dedicated server: the line is gone and the page redirects to VPS. Your ceiling is a 32 vCPU virtual machine.
You need to know which country holds your data: no page names a location. Checkout offers “Europa, Singapore or USA”. If you have a GDPR assessment to complete, or a client who asks where the servers are, you’ll be guessing.
A trial or a refund matters to you: Es gibt keine Geld-zurück-Garantie. Consumers get 14 statutory days and pay pro rata for what they used. Business customers get nothing.
Your email setup is complex: the email product has changed platform twice in fifteen months. Customers were pushed to Microsoft 365 from March 2025. Then between 19 May and 18 Juni 2026 the retail email line was replaced again, with a Titan-powered product. Anyone running many mailboxes, aliases or forwarding rules is exposed to the next change.
Warnsignale für Ihre Situation
- You’re price-sensitive at the bottom: EUR 5.39/mo for one site with 512 MB of RAM is mid-market, kein Budget.
- You can’t absorb a suspension: several reviews describe hard cut-offs over sums under EUR 40.
- You want one-click cancellation: each product cancels separately, with a one-month notice period.
- You’re a legacy Classic customer: your migration is paused, not cancelled, and the timetable is unknown.
Falls einer dieser Punkte zutrifft, see the alternatives below.
Host Europe Transparency Score
We assess how forthcoming Host Europe is with the information a buyer needs.
- Firmeninformation: Begrenzt. GoDaddy has owned Host Europe since April 2017. That’s disclosed on the email page but not on the company page, which still reads as an independent German firm. Both postal addresses on the site are coworking offices.
- Preistransparenz: Gut. This is the strongest area. Renewal prices are printed on the cards, mit “Anschließend 1,99 €” next to the promotional mailbox price. Domain renewals are stated in full. Nur wenige Gastgeber tun dies. The claim of “100% Preistransparenz” still sits awkwardly beside four separately renewing contracts.
- Technische Dokumentation: Gut. Published I/O throughput, file caps, CPU and RAM per tier, plus a live status page. Undermined by the missing data centre locations and the 2022 GRÜNER SALAT.
- Bedingungen & Richtlinien: Begrenzt. The refund position is the legal minimum and isn’t advertised. SSL cards read “12 Monate Laufzeit” in the heading and “Laufzeit: 6 Monate” in the fine print below. Worst of all, the migration FAQ still tells customers their contract ends on 30 April 2026. The company withdrew that deadline in February, and it passed three months ago.
Gesamttransparenz: Gemischt, unusually so. Auf den Preis, Host Europe is more honest than most of the industry. On location, contract status and its own published dates, it lags. That suggests unowned pages rather than concealment. The effect on a buyer is the same.
Alternatives to Host Europe
If Host Europe doesn’t fit, Diese Alternativen beheben die spezifischen Lücken.
For a Named German Data Centre: Hetzner
Hetzner publishes its facility locations and runs its own hardware, answering the question Host Europe no longer does. Several borncity commenters named it as where they went after the cPanel migration. Vergleichen Sie Optionen in unserem Webhosting-Leitfaden für Deutschland.
For Cheap VPS Capacity: Contabo
Contabo competes directly at the low end, where Host Europe’s entry machine starts at EUR 5.39. We have a head-to-head at Contabo vs Host Europe.
For Email You Control: A Dedicated Mail Provider
If the Microsoft 365 migration is your objection, splitting mail from hosting removes the risk. Providers such as mailbox.org keep data in German facilities. Unser E-Mail-Hosting-Leitfaden deckt das Feld ab.
For Bare Metal: Anyone Still Selling It
Host Europe left that market in 2024. Sehen Sie sich unsere an Germany dedicated hosting guide for providers that haven’t.

Host Europe Plans and Pricing
All prices below include 19% German VAT, as Host Europe displays them. Each is per month, across three contract lengths.
⚠️ Verlängerungswarnung: Host Europe’s hosting price barely moves at renewal, which is unusual and good. The bundle is where the money is. Your domain, mailbox and SSL are free for the first year only. A .de domain costs EUR 0.99 in year one and renews at EUR 11.88, genau 12 times that. A .com goes from EUR 0.99 es ist EUR 23.88, oder 24.1 mal. The bundled mailbox doubles, es ist EUR 1.99 ein Monat.
WebHosting (Geteilt)
Standard: EUR 5.39/mo on 24 Monate, EUR 5.99 auf 12, EUR 6.99 monatlich. Eine Seite, 25 GB, 10 Datenbanken.
Deluxe: EUR 7.19 / 7.99 / 8.99. Ten sites, 50 GB, 25 Datenbanken.
Ultimativ: EUR 10.79 / 11.99 / 13.99. 25 Websites, 75 GB, 50 Datenbanken.
Maximal: EUR 15.29 / 16.99 / 19.99. 50 Websites, 100 GB, 100 Datenbanken.
Monthly contracts add a one-off EUR 9.99 Einrichtungsgebühr. The longer terms don’t. What happens when a 24-month term ends depends on who you are. Business customers roll into another 24 months at the same price, a 1.0x multiplier. Private customers switch to the monthly price unless they re-sign by hand. That’s EUR 6.99 statt EUR 5.39, a 1.30x rise nobody announces.
Verwaltetes WordPress
Basic: EUR 4.49 / 4.99 / 5.99. Eine Seite, 30 GB, bis zu 25,000 Besucher pro Monat.
Deluxe: EUR 8.99 / 9.99 / 11.99. 75 GB, 100,000 Besucher, Ein-Klick-Staging.
Höchste: EUR 13.49 / 14.99 / 17.99. Unlimited storage and visitors.
E-Commerce: EUR 26.99 / 29.99 / 32.99. WooCommerce extensions included.
Virtueller Server (VPS)
Entry is a 1 vCPU machine from EUR 5.39/mo on 24 Monate. The named builds:
- 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM, 100 GB NVMe: EUR 8.99 / 9.99 / 10.99
- 4 vCPU, 8 GB, 200 GB: EUR 17.99 / 19.99 / 21.99
- 8 vCPU, 16 GB, 400 GB: EUR 31.49 / 34.99 / 37.99
- 16 vCPU, 32 GB, 800 GB: EUR 58.49 / 64.99 / 69.99
- 32 vCPU, 128 GB, 1500 GB: EUR 116.99 / 129.99 / 139.99
Wöchentliche Backups sind inbegriffen. Windows adds EUR 14.99 es ist EUR 89.99. Plesk starts at EUR 8.99, cPanel at EUR 12.99. Fully Managed servers start at EUR 85.97.
Auf 14 April 2026 Host Europe published a blog post promoting “VPS-PreisSicherheit”. Your VPS price stays fixed for the 12 oder 24 months of your contract. That’s real, but read what it covers. The price is frozen during the term, not after it. Private customers still land on the monthly rate, 1.22x the two-year price on the 2 vCPU machine.
WebServer (Gelang es)
Launch EUR 19.79, Enhance EUR 33.29, Grow EUR 44.99, Expand EUR 62.99, all on 24-month terms. These are managed cPanel servers with a free dedicated IP and unlimited databases.
Versteckte Kosten, die es zu beachten gilt
- Domain-Erneuerung: .de EUR 11.88/year, .com EUR 23.88/year, .online and .shop EUR 53.88/year. First year is EUR 0.99 oder EUR 1.08.
- Monthly domain terms: ein 25% surcharge on the domain price.
- Briefkasten: the bundled Pro Light box renews at EUR 1.99/mo. Premium jumps from EUR 1.99 es ist EUR 5.99, a 3.0x rise.
- SSL: Domain SSL lists at EUR 2.99/mo, Organization at EUR 5.99, Extended at EUR 24.99.
- Aufstellen: EUR 9.99 Einmal, on monthly contracts only.
- Rückerstattungen: keiner. There is no money-back guarantee, only the statutory 14-day EU withdrawal right, and you pay pro rata for service used.
Preisurteil
Do the year-two arithmetic and the picture changes. A private customer on Standard with a .de domain pays EUR 65.67 im ersten Jahr. In year two the hosting is still EUR 64.68. But the domain adds EUR 11.88 and the mailbox adds EUR 23.88. That’s EUR 100.44, a 1.53x rise on a plan whose advertised price never moved. The SSL is first-year-free too, and the standalone certificate lists at EUR 35.88 ein Jahr.
This isn’t the 300% renewal shock the big American discounters run. It’s quieter, and spread across four contracts. Host Europe’s own footnote confirms it: “Jedes Produkt im Paket muss separat gekündigt werden.” Every product in the bundle cancels separately.

Host Europe earns 4.3 aus 5 über 6,149 Bewertungen. The score is honest about what it measures: a helpdesk people like, attached to a platform that spent eighteen months changing under them.
Das Fazit
Buy it for the phone support, the printed renewal prices and the flat business renewals. Skip it if you need bare metal, a refund window, a named data centre, or email that will work the same way in two years.
Mit 86.9% of reviews at five stars and 7.5% at one, this is a host people either thank by name or leave angry. New customers on a fresh cPanel plan land mostly in the first group. Customers dragged through the migrations fill the second.

Häufig gestellte Fragen
Is Host Europe good for beginners?
Ja, mit einer Einschränkung. Sie erhalten cPanel, an app installer covering over 125 Anwendungen, daily backups and free German phone support. That’s a soft landing. The caveat is the bundle: your domain, mailbox and SSL are separate contracts, each renewing on its own schedule.
Is Host Europe worth the price?
At EUR 5.39 a month for one site, it’s mid-market rather than cheap. The value turns on whether you’ll use the support. If you’d never call, the same specs cost less elsewhere. Year two runs about 1.53 times year one, once the domain and mailbox start billing.
Worüber beschweren sich Kunden am meisten??
Drei Dinge, in Ordnung. The forced migration of email to Microsoft 365, which broke Thunderbird access and turned free mailboxes into paid ones. The cPanel migration, which rewrote configuration files and cost some customers days of downtime. And billing enforcement, with several reviewers reporting sites deleted over sums under EUR 40.
Does Host Europe still offer dedicated servers?
Nein. That page now redirects to Virtual Server. Its last working archive capture is dated 6 Juli 2024, and every capture from 23 November 2024 onward is a redirect. The largest machine you can buy is a 32 vCPU virtual server with 128 GB RAM.
Is Host Europe good for WordPress?
The Managed WordPress line is reasonable. Basic starts at EUR 4.49 einen Monat bei einer zweijährigen Laufzeit, mit 30 GB and a 25,000 visitor allowance. Deluxe and above add one-click staging, which is where it earns its keep. Daily malware scanning and one-click restore are included throughout.
Does Host Europe offer refunds?
Es gibt keine Geld-zurück-Garantie. Consumers have a statutory 14-day withdrawal right under German law. But if you asked for the service to start immediately, you pay for what you used. Business customers have no withdrawal right at all. Check the plan before committing to 24 Monate.
