We found no independent benchmark data for Hostens from the past 12 meses. Here’s what can be verified instead.

The contract commits to 99.95% disponibilidade, measured across a full calendar year. That allows roughly 4.4 horas de inatividade anualmente. Scheduled maintenance, emergency maintenance and force majeure are all excluded. Compensation runs at 10% of the monthly fee per hour missed, capped at one month’s fee.

Now read that exclusion beside a complaint from October 2025. A customer of nearly five years reported that server “atualizações” caused outages lasting hours to days. Emergency maintenance is exactly what the SLA (Acordo de Nível de Serviço, the uptime promise in the contract) carves out.

Their marketing doesn’t match either. Hostens’ data centre page claims 99.98% disponibilidade. The contract says 99.95%. Only the lower figure is enforceable.

Software-side, the spec sheet lists Apache as the web server, MariaDB 10 for databases, and PHP versions up to 8.1. PHP 8.1 stopped receiving security fixes on 31 dezembro 2025. We found no Hostens page listing PHP 8.2 ou mais recente.

Unexpected charges come next. A November 2025 reviewer said Hostens emailed to say renewal had to be done manually, then charged their card anyway. Older reviews from 2021 e 2022 objected to being asked for a driving licence to prove identity. The terms of service do let Hostens withhold activation where identity is in doubt, so that’s policy rather than an agent going off script.

So where does candid feedback live? In the organic one-star reviews. And that gap is measurable. Do 120 most recent five-star reviews, spanning October 2023 to July 2026, 114 arrived through a review link Hostens sent the customer. Six came unprompted. Two reviewers alleged the five-star reviews were fake. We found no evidence of that, and solicited is not the same as fake. Mas o 4.5 average partly measures how well Hostens asks happy customers to review it.

Volume is falling too. Five-star reviews averaged about five a month through 2024. Across the last 12 months the total is 23. Meanwhile the homepage claims “Our Customers Rate Us 5 Estrelas”, when the live score is 4.5. One rival number deserves dismissing rather than repeating: a smaller platform ranks Hostens 1.5 fora de 10, on four reviews, all from 2020.

Pricing here works differently from most hosts, and the difference cuts both ways.

The real problem is the pricing page. Em 30 Julho 2026 it advertised the same shared hosting at five different starting prices. The page title said “from $2/month”. The search description said “from $0.10/mo”. The FAQ said the price “começa em $0.90 por mês” and described a 20 GB plan for under a dollar. The plan card said USD 9.99. The cheapest real price, in the cart, era em dólares americanos 4.99. So which figure should a buyer believe? That same page promises “your renewal hosting plan price will not change”. Technically that’s accurate, because the list rate holds steady. What disappears is the coupon, and your bill doubles. Com justiça, the page also promises Hostens “won’t charge 3-4 times the price” na renovação, and it doesn’t. Doubling is milder than much of the market.

Hostens Transparency Score

This section rates how forthcoming Hostens is with information, separately from how good the hosting is.

• Termos & Políticas: Boa. The uptime target, compensation formula, 30-day refund window and 14-day repayment deadline are all clearly written. One exclusion is broad, Apesar. The refund right doesn’t apply where service “has commenced or has been completed in full”.

Transparência geral: Misturado, and the failures read as neglect rather than deception. A host trying to mislead you wouldn’t print its renewal price on the pricing card. It also wouldn’t leave a USD 0.90 claim up for 18 months while charging USD 4.99.

Alternatives to Hostens
