SiteGround sells shared hosting in three tiers (Commencez, GrowBig et GoGeek), managed cloud servers, reseller accounts and a standalone website builder. Its WordPress and WooCommerce pages sell the same three shared plans with different marketing. Everything runs on Google Cloud, with SiteGround’s own control panel, called Site Tools, au lieu de cPanel.

The Tools That Matter Day to Day

Limits the Plan Page Leaves Out

SiteGround’s plan cards don’t list resource caps. Its fair-use article does, though it was last updated in October 2021. StartUp gets 10,000 CPU seconds a day and 200,000 inodes. For a shop selling to Brazil or India, that gap shows up in every page load.

Performance Expectations From Our Network Test

We measured network latency, the time a small packet takes to reach a server and come back. Sur 7 et 8 octobre 2026 we pinged ten SiteGround shared servers, one per location, from home and mobile internet connections in 10 des pays. Eight of ten countries reached a SiteGround location in under 30 SP, ce qui est excellent. India and Brazil did not. In late May 2026 SiteGround added its “AI Agent by SiteGround” plugin to customers’ Sites WordPress, activated and connected. SiteGround’s own 1 juin 2026 post confirms that on its hosting the connector “comes pre-installed and pre-connected as the default”. Its staff say customers got an email first and that the plugin can be removed at any time.

Customers saw it differently. Review titles repeat “installed without consent” encore et encore. When SiteGround’s staff quoted the notice email in reply, one reviewer answered that it never said a plugin would be installed. The plugin’s WordPress.org page now shows 1.6 hors de 5 étoiles de 97 notes, avec 81 of them one star.

Some reports go further. A business on Reddit said the activated plugin broke forms that its Google Ads pointed to. Signs It Is the Wrong Host for You

Billing Terms in the Cart

SiteGround’s cart sends visitors from our location to its EUR storefront (eu.siteground.com), whatever region the site is set to. So we couldn’t check USD terms, and the figures below are the EUR storefront’s, hors TVA. Its cart offers three terms: 1, 12 ou 24 mois, with no 36-month option.

• 12 mois: StartUp EUR 2.99 un mois, EUR 35.88 dès le départ. This is the only term with the full discount.

You’re paying for the support team, the backups and the tooling, not for raw resources. If you can’t justify USD 215.88 a year for a small site, plan your exit before month 12.

SiteGround Transparency Score

Company information: Bien. The terms name the contracting company, SiteGround Spain S.L., with its Madrid address and tax number. The About page describes a privately owned group registered in five countries. It does so only in general terms, so you need the terms to find the legal entity.

Transparence des prix: Bien. Every plan card prints the renewal price and the 12-month prepay term. Monthly and 24-month prices appear only in the cart, and the cart is locked to your region’s storefront.

Technical documentation: Bien. Tout 11 locations are listed at checkout, and the fair-use limits are published. But the limits sit in a knowledge base article last updated in 2021, not on the plan page.

Terms and policies: Excellent. The terms are versioned, dated and link to the previous version. The problem lies in their content. The uptime guarantee promises 99.9% un mois, and the remedy is 5% des frais de ce mois, paid only as extra hosting time. On StartUp’s USD 17.99 taux, that’s just under USD 0.90. SiteGround’s terms revision dated 18 août 2026 also widened the refund exclusions. Services can now be marked non-refundable “on any portion of our website”, et “digital Services that are delivered in full” are excluded. The 30-day window for shared hosting is unchanged.

Transparence globale: Bien. SiteGround publishes more than most hosts, including dated terms. What it publishes is often less generous than the marketing suggests, so read the terms before you rely on the uptime promise.
