Every hosting product offers a choice between India and USA servers, picked before you buy. HostAdvice lists the two as Mumbai and Austin, Texas. That matters for latency, the delay between a visitor’s request and the server’s answer. An Indian audience served from Mumbai sees faster responses than one served from Texas.

The legacy page at bigrock.in/hosting.php says 99.9%. The VPS page promises “99% Uptime” in its hero bullets, while its own footer badge says 99.99%. Those figures mean roughly 4 minutes, 43 minutes et 7 hours of monthly downtime.

Negative reviews are consistent across every platform, and cluster in three places.

The poster found their details left visible in WHOIS, the public record listing every domain’s owner. Daily cold calls from web design agencies followed. BigRock now sells contact hiding as a paid add-on.

Most useful of all is what’s missing. Newfold Digital put BigRock at 200,000 customers in July 2023. Yet there’s almost no independent technical discussion of it on r/webhosting or the low-end hosting boards. Hosts that developers run production sites on generate that discussion.

When to Use BigRock

BigRock fits one buyer well.

The term is the buried detail. Nowhere on the Linux hosting page does BigRock say how long you’re committing to. There’s no billing-cycle selector and no mention of a term in the visible text. The page’s own embedded plan data sets the default to 60 mois. Its legacy page at bigrock.in/hosting.php is still live and spells the ladder out. It lists 5 Years at INR 159/month, 3 Years at 199, 1 Year at 299, 1 Month at 399. The redesign dropped that disclosure.

Buy either monthly and they cost INR 1,099 and INR 1,499, a 4x penalty. That page’s comparison chart is also broken, showing a dash for both plans on every row below SSL Certificate.

• Sauvegardes: “Daily Backups*” carries a green tick on every shared plan. The asterisk tooltip reads: “We maintain daily backups. The backups can be provided at a nominal fee.” The fee is never stated.
• Impôt: TPS (India’s goods and services tax) is not mentioned anywhere on the hosting pages. Indian buyers should expect 18% en haut.
• Domaine gratuit: included on Business and above for one year only. The Standard plan is explicitly excluded.
• Confidentialité WHOIS: sold separately as “Domain Protect+”, described on BigRock’s own menu as hiding your contact details from spammers.

How forthcoming is BigRock with what a buyer needs to know?
