Resposta curta: HostPapa has excellent front-line support and one of the mildest renewal increases in budget hosting. What it doesn’t have is a consistent product. The Canadian host that averages 4.7/5 através 3,018 Trustpilot reviews also carries a 2.2/5 on SmartCustomer. Its published resource limits are the tightest we’ve measured on a mainstream shared plan.
This review draws on HostPapa’s own pricing and specification pages, the rating distribution behind that 4.7 média, and Reddit threads from the past year. Unlike affiliate reviews, we print the renewal price beside the promo price and quote the resource limits HostPapa publishes rather than its marketing copy. No testing claims here. We didn’t run servers. We read the data.
Avaliação geral: HostPapa scores 4.7/5 através 3,018 avaliações, 87.4% deles cinco estrelas. Strengths are 24/7 phone support customers name individual agents in, and renewal pricing that undercuts Hostinger, GreenGeeks and SiteGround. The recurring complaints are email delivery failures and pressure to upgrade after resource-usage alerts. Best for small business owners who want a phone number, and who won’t push a shared server hard.
Note on timing: HostPapa added Acronis Backup, CloudLinuxOS, Imunify360 and domain ICANN fees to its non-refundable list in a refund-policy update dated 20 agosto 2026. All four were refundable under the February 2025 policy it replaced. Any older review describes a broader refund than you’ll get.

Recursos e serviços
HostPapa has traded since 2006 out of Burlington, Ontário, and says over 500,000 website owners use it. It has grown mostly by buying other hosts: Hostopia, ColoCrossing, MacHighway, LunarPages and now Hostwinds all sit under one umbrella.
Tipos de hospedagem oferecidos
- Hospedagem Compartilhada – quatro níveis cPanel, from one website to unlimited
- Optimized WordPress – same servers and prices as shared, WordPress pré-instalado
- WordPress gerenciado – um separado, pricier line with flat renewal pricing
- Hospedagem VPS – six unmanaged and five managed tiers (a VPS is a private slice of a server you control)
- Servidores dedicados – ten configurations, gerenciado ou não gerenciado
- Revenda de Hospedagem, Construtor de sites, business email and Microsoft 365
Principais recursos destacados pelos clientes
- 24/7 phone support in four languages – Inglês, francês, Spanish and German, with a real number to dial. Nearly every positive review is about this.
- CloudLinux LVE isolation – LVE (Ambiente Virtual Leve) walls off each account so a busy neighbour can’t slow you down. On every shared plan.
- Armazenamento NVMe – uma classe mais rápida de SSD, standard across shared, VPS and most dedicated plans.
- A published resource chart – exact CPU, memória, I/O and inode allocations per plan. Most budget hosts hide these behind “ilimitado.”
- Migração gratuita – em todas as camadas compartilhadas, though the fee is non-refundable if you later cancel.
Locais de data centers
Cinco locais: Toronto, Búfalo, Os anjos, Miami e Amsterdã. Solid across North America, workable for Europe, nothing at all in Asia, América latina, Africa or Oceania. If your visitors sit in Sydney or Singapore, every page load crosses an ocean. For Canadian buyers Toronto is the draw, e nosso Guia canadense de hospedagem na web covers the local field.
Expectativas de desempenho
Here’s where it gets awkward. HostPapa advertises a 99.9% uptime guarantee on its service guarantee and data centre pages. Search its 46,000-character Terms of Service and “tempo de atividade” appears zero times. So does “service credit.” The only commitment is that HostPapa “will use reasonable efforts” to keep services available 99.9% do tempo, with no compensation clause attached.
You also can’t audit the record, because status.hostpapa.com doesn’t resolve. Treat any uptime figure you read about HostPapa, ours included, as unverifiable. One specification is worth flagging too. HostPapa’s chart lists the selectable versions of PHP, the language WordPress runs on, Como 5.6 através 8.1. Versão 8.1 stopped getting security fixes on 25 novembro 2024, and nothing newer appears in HostPapa’s published documentation.
Experiência do cliente
o 4.7 average hides a split. De 3,018 Avaliações da Trustpilot, 2,639 são cinco estrelas (87.4%) e 237 são uma estrela (7.9%). Four-star sits at just 99, so one-star is the second-largest bucket at more than double it. People love HostPapa or they’re furious, and that shape tells you something the average doesn’t.
O que os clientes elogiam
Apoio, suporte, and specifically the people. We read the twenty most recent five-star reviews, running to 1 setembro 2026. Fourteen name an individual agent: Jericho M., Mohamed L.K., Hacene, Emman B., Melanie P., Hector Santamaria, Aymen, Cherry and others. Nearly all describe one thing, a ticket answered fast by someone competent.
Phone access is the differentiator for less technical customers. One reviewer on 19 agosto 2026 valued having “always a ‘Live’ person who is knowledgeable, helpful and very patient with those of us who aren’t ‘computer savvy’.” Read closely, Apesar, and the praise measures the help desk, não a hospedagem. A real strength. Not the same claim as reliable servers.
Reclamações Comuns
Email delivery. This dominates the negative reviews and is the most consistent theme in the data. Five separate one-star reviews between 9 abril e 14 Maio 2026 describe mail failing. Two independent reviewers, em 10 e 11 Maio 2026, used the same phrase: email breaks “todo 3-4 meses.” One had been a customer for a decade.
Upselling and unexpected charges. A reviewer on 19 agosto 2026 was billed monthly for security they hadn’t asked for. Another on 22 abril 2026 picked a service listed at USD 0 and got a USD 47 bill. A third on 26 Junho 2026 spent over 12 hours on a malware problem before learning the cleanup needed a paid add-on.
Refund friction. UMA 6 agosto 2026 review describes a three-year lock-in with nothing back on cancelling after two years. That matches the written policy exactly, which is the problem: the terms are strict and buyers don’t read them.
Feedback da comunidade (Reddit & Fóruns)
Reddit tells a sharper story, and it converges on one mechanism. No “Fell for the HostPapa scam” (r/webhosting, 13 novembro 2025), a creator described nearly a decade of resource-usage warnings. They were pushed onto plans costing over USD 1,000 um ano. HostPapa didn’t hide from it: a staff member posted publicly, reviewed the account and argued the upgrades tracked real usage growth. Credit for showing up, though the customer disputed that account.
A second thread showed the mechanism up close. Em janeiro 2026 a shared-hosting customer posted graphs showing flat usage under 6% with one daily spike, traced to a scheduled Jetpack backup. HostPapa’s reply, quoted in the thread: “the alerts, even if they are small, are not ‘Common’, and we will need to prevent them as they will also affect other users within the same server.” Under CloudLinux a “fault” only means the account tried to exceed its allocation, and at 2 MB/s an ordinary backup will do exactly that.
Em 3 fevereiro 2026 a VPS customer in r/Hosting reported six service interruptions already that year, one over two hours during business hours. No “Avoid Hostpapa for Email hosting” (r/webhosting, 14 Maio 2026), a commenter who runs a mail server reported “spam, phishing, and malware emails originating from HostPapa-hosted systems almost every day.”
Perhaps the most balanced verdict came from a current customer: HostPapa é “okay, but not super reliable if you need a business to be run on it.” If your mail matters, nosso guia de hospedagem de e-mail covers providers that do only that.
Qualidade de suporte
Two speeds, and the gap explains the split rating. First contact is genuinely good. HostPapa claims an average response under five minutes, and the named-agent praise fits that picture. It also replies to 93.1% de avaliações negativas da Trustpilot, média 1.63 dias. Escalation is where it falls down. One reviewer logged over 20 pages of messages across 10 days with the site offline. Another spent eight hours repeating the same information to the same technician. Quick answers, slow resolutions.
A Note on the Second Score
So why does the same host score 2.2/5 on SmartCustomer, Onde 89% do seu 37 reviews are one-star? Not because that’s the truer number: the sample is 80 times smaller and self-selected. SmartCustomer states on the page that HostPapa has not invited customers to leave feedback there. Na Trustpilot, where it runs an invitation programme, ele coletou 452 reviews in twelve months. Unprompted reviewers arrive angry. Invited ones arrive after a ticket went well.
When to Use HostPapa
There are situations where HostPapa is the obvious choice:
Ideal para
Small business owners who want to phone someone: Few budget hosts still staff 24/7 phone lines in four languages. If your site matters but you’re not technical, that access beats a benchmark score.
Canadian and North American sites: Toronto, Búfalo, Miami and Los Angeles give low latency across the continent. Canadian data residency also answers a real compliance question.
Buyers who want flat pricing: Every dedicated tier renews at its advertised rate, and so does Managed WordPress. If renewal cliffs worry you, these two lines don’t have one.
Você vai gostar se
- You want your exact resource allocation before buying, because HostPapa publishes the full chart
- You’re committing for three years anyway, since the 36-month rate is where the value sits
- You want a cheap unmanaged VPS at USD 2.95/mo that renews at USD 2.95/mo
When NOT to Use HostPapa
Nenhum anfitrião combina com todos. HostPapa isn’t the right pick if:
Procure em outro lugar se
Business email is critical: This is the clearest signal in the dataset. Delivery failures appear across Trustpilot and Reddit, from long-tenured customers, over months. If email going down would cost you customers, host it elsewhere.
Your site does real work: UMA 2 MB/s I/O cap is tight. Add a backup plugin, a security scanner or a busy WooCommerce checkout and you’ll trip alerts. The documented cases end the same way, with a call recommending a pricier plan.
Você precisa de um compromisso contratual de tempo de atividade: Marketing diz 99.9%. The Terms say “reasonable efforts” and mention service credits nowhere, and no status page exists to audit. If you need an SLA (Acordo de Nível de Serviço, an uptime promise with compensation attached), this isn’t one.
Bandeiras vermelhas para sua situação
- You dislike long lock-ins: the headline price needs 36 months paid up front
- You want a fast refund: approved refunds arrive “within ninety (90) days of the service cancellation,” and only first-time accounts qualify
- You took the free domain: its full price is deducted from any refund, and the Terms charge the domain fee if you leave within 12 meses, including inside the 30-day window

HostPapa Plans and Pricing
Crédito onde é devido: HostPapa publishes a full renewal price list covering every product at every billing term. Almost nobody else does. It also makes the increase impossible to argue about.
⚠️ Aviso de renovação: HostPapa’s entry shared plan costs US$ 2,95/mês com prazo de 36 meses. Renova em US$ 8,99/mês if you stay on three-year billing, US$ 10,99/mês anualmente, ou US$ 12,99/mês por mês. That’s a 3.05x increase, and the cheapest tier takes the steepest jump. Budget for triple.
Shared Hosting and Optimized WordPress
Ambas as linhas têm preços idênticos, and all four promo prices need 36 months paid up front.
- Essenciais: US$ 2,95/mês, renova por US$ 8,99/mês. 1 local na rede Internet, 25GB NVMe, 2 contas de e-mail.
- Crescimento: US$ 5,95/mês, renova por US$ 13,99/mês. 5 sites, 100GB, 10 contas de e-mail.
- Prêmio: USD 6.95/mo, renova por US$ 19,99/mês. Sites ilimitados, 200GB, 40 contas de e-mail.
- Elite: US$ 9,95/mês, renova por US$ 27,99/mês. Sites ilimitados, armazenamento ilimitado, e-mail ilimitado.
Now the part the plan cards leave off. Every shared tier caps disk I/O, which limits how fast your site reads and writes data. Essentials gets 2,048 KB/s, Crescimento 3,072, Prêmio 4,096, Elite 8,192. Isso é 2 para 8 megabytes per second on hardware sold as NVMe, where the drives handle thousands. Essentials and Growth also cap scheduled tasks at one every 30 minutos, breaking WordPress features that expect a shorter interval.
Hospedagem VPS
Não gerenciado a partir de US$ 2,95/mês | Managed from USD 36.99/mo
Unmanaged Lite is the bargain of the catalogue: 1 testemunho, 1GB de RAM, 25GB NVMe, renewing at USD 2.95/mo, exactly what you paid. Move up and the increases return, with Start going USD 5.95 para USD 9.99 and Progress USD 9.95 para USD 19.99.
Servidores dedicados
From USD 59.95/mo unmanaged, USD 109.95/mo managed
Every dedicated tier renews at exactly its advertised price. Sem promoção, sem penhasco. The entry Spark box runs a Xeon E3-1240v3 with 32GB DDR3 and a 1TB SSD, 2013-era silicon, so check the specification against the price. The Drive tier at USD 189.95/mo is a 16-core Ryzen 5950X with 128GB and NVMe, and that one is competitive.
Custos ocultos a serem observados
- Backups: grátis apenas no primeiro ano, then 1GB costs USD 47.99/year. That’s USD 4.00/mo against a USD 2.95/mo Essentials plan, so the backup costs more than the hosting.
- Domínio: grátis apenas no primeiro ano, então cobrado pela taxa padrão.
- SSL: a standard certificate is free. Single Domain SSL costs USD 39.99/year, Wildcard USD 109.99/year. The Elite page calls its included Wildcard certificate a USD 139.99/year value, que é USD 30 above HostPapa’s own price for it.
- Security add-ons: Protection Power USD 35.88 to USD 299.88/year, SiteLock USD 35.88 to USD 299.99/year.
- cPanel licences on VPS and dedicated: USD 10 to USD 65/mo by account count.
Veredicto de preços
Better than its reputation suggests. We checked three rivals on their own pricing pages the same day. GreenGeeks Lite goes USD 2.95 para USD 13.95, a 4.73x jump. Hostinger Premium goes USD 2.99 para USD 10.99 (3.68x). SiteGround StartUp goes EUR 2.99 é EUR 15.99 (5.35x). HostPapa’s USD 8.99 is the lowest renewal of the four and the mildest multiplier. The catch is the term: 36 months up front where the others want 12.

HostPapa Transparency Score
How upfront is HostPapa with what buyers need to know?
- Informações da Empresa: Excelente – Fundado 2006 in Burlington Ontario, named founder and CEO, published phone numbers, acquisitions dated in a public press room.
- Transparência de preços: Excelente – A renewal price list covering 16 product tables at every billing term. Almost no competitor does this. One small lapse: an SSL certificate described as a USD 139.99 value that HostPapa itself sells for USD 109.99.
- Documentação Técnica: Boa – The resource chart is unusually detailed and honest about the limits. Contra isso, the PHP list is stale and there’s no status page.
- Termos & Políticas: Limitado – Complete and current, but they contradict the marketing. The uptime guarantee has no contractual form. The renewal increase happens, in the Terms’ own capitals, “WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE TO YOU.” The refund policy is far narrower than “30-garantia de devolução do dinheiro em dia” implies.
Transparência geral: Boa. HostPapa discloses more than most budget hosts, and the renewal list genuinely helps buyers. The gap isn’t concealment but contradiction: the legal terms give away far less than the sales pages promise.
Alternatives to HostPapa
These address the gaps above:
For More Headroom: SiteGround
SiteGround rates plans by monthly visits rather than throttled I/O: aproximadamente 10,000 na inicialização, 100,000 on GrowBig. Você paga por isso. StartUp runs EUR 2.99 renovação em EUR 15.99, the steepest jump we checked at 5.35x. Right call if resource alerts are your problem, wrong one if price is.
For More Resources Per Dollar: Hostinger
Hostinger Premium runs USD 2.99 renovando em USD 10.99, and the Unlimited tier adds 50GB NVMe with unlimited sites. The renewal is slightly worse than HostPapa’s and the term runs to 48 meses, but resources are more generous. Sem suporte por telefone, so the trade runs the other way.
For Support Depth: HostArmada
HostArmada suits buyers who picked HostPapa for its service, pairing a strong support reputation with cloud-based shared hosting. Its renewal multiplier is much harsher, so check the numbers first. Nosso HostPapa vs HostArmada comparison coloca-los lado a lado.
HostPapa earns 4.7/5 através 3,018 avaliações, and that score is honestly collected. It also measures the help desk more than the hosting.
O resultado final
Buy HostPapa for the phone number, the Canadian data centres and a renewal price that beats Hostinger, GreenGeeks and SiteGround. Don’t buy it for email you can’t afford to lose, or for a site that will push a shared server. Check the 2 MB/s I/O cap and the upgrade calls that follow it before committing 36 meses.
What you get is real human support and unusually honest pricing disclosure. It falls short on email reliability and on backing its uptime promise with anything contractual. Good fit for a small business site with a non-technical owner, poor fit for anything mission-critical.

perguntas frequentes
Is HostPapa good for beginners?
sim, and it’s the best reason to pick it. Você obtém cPanel, one-click WordPress installs and 24/7 phone support in four languages. Most reviewers who praise HostPapa name a specific agent who walked them through a problem. If you’d rather call than open a ticket, isso se encaixa.
Is HostPapa worth the price?
Na taxa promocional, sim. Essentials at USD 2.95/mo is competitive, e seu dólar 8.99 renewal on three-year billing still undercuts GreenGeeks, Hostinger e SiteGround. Add USD 47.99/year for backups from year two, and the real cost sits above the sticker.
Do que os clientes mais reclamam?
Duas coisas. Email delivery comes first: several long-term customers report mail failing every few months, resolved slowly. Second are resource-usage alerts followed by pressure to upgrade. HostPapa publishes the limits behind those alerts, and the entry plan’s disk I/O cap is 2 MB / s. A routine backup plugin can trip it.
How does HostPapa compare to SiteGround?
No preço, HostPapa wins both ends: SiteGround StartUp renews at EUR 15.99/mo against HostPapa’s USD 8.99. SiteGround gives far more performance headroom and rates plans by monthly visits rather than throttled I/O. Pick HostPapa on price and phone support, SiteGround on performance.
Is HostPapa good for WordPress?
Para um site pequeno, sim. Optimized WordPress costs the same as shared hosting and comes preinstalled. For a busy site, be careful. I/O caps run 2 para 8 MB / s, cheaper tiers limit scheduled tasks to one every 30 minutos, and the chart lists no PHP newer than 8.1. Managed WordPress starts at USD 14.95/mo and renews at that price.
Does HostPapa offer refunds?
sim, com condições reais. Você consegue 30 days on annual or longer billing, mas apenas 48 hours on some shorter terms. Refunds are paid within 90 days of cancellation, only first-time accounts qualify, and the free domain’s full price is deducted. Desde a 20 agosto 2026, Acronis Backup, CloudLinuxOS, Imunify360 and domain ICANN fees are non-refundable too.
