The praise is remarkably consistent. People answer the chat quickly, they speak Dutch, and they know what they’re talking about.

This review uses pricing pulled from Hostnet’s own checkout in July 2026. It also covers the star distribution behind those averages, the general terms, and candid Dutch forum threads. Contrairement aux critiques d'affiliation, we show renewal prices next to promotional ones, read the contract, and include this year’s complaints.

Évaluation globale: Hostnet scores 4.6/5 on its main review profile, built from 2,491 reviews that customers posted on their own initiative. Strengths are Dutch-language support and a certified, well-run platform. The most common complaints involve renewal pricing, automatic renewal, and reports of pushy upgrade calls. It suits Dutch businesses that value support over price.

Contexte important: one.com bought Hostnet in March 2020, and one.com is now group.one, backed by private equity firm Cinven. Hostnet then renamed its entire hosting lineup in 2025. Reviews written before those two changes describe a different company.

Fonctionnalités et services

Operating from Amsterdam since 1999, Hostnet is a full-service provider rather than a specialist. Il couvre les domaines, hébergement, email and website building for Dutch small businesses.

Types d'hébergement proposés

  • Shared Hosting – four tiers from 25 Go à 200 GB, named Lite, Coeur, Boost and Power
  • WordPress Hosting – the same four packages, sold through a separate page
  • VPS Hosting – unmanaged virtual servers, 1 à 8 Go de RAM. A VPS is a slice of a physical machine running your own operating system
  • Managed Hosting – Hostnet’s technicians run the server for you, from EUR 50/mo
  • Managed WordPress Cloud – a separate platform branded WP.one
  • Email, Microsoft 365, SSL certificates and a drag-and-drop website builder

Il n'y a pas de serveurs dédiés.

Principales caractéristiques mises en avant par les clients

Reviews rarely mention features. They mention people. Encore, a few technical points matter:

  • Current PHP versions (8.2 à travers 8.5) – PHP is the language WordPress runs on, and old versions stop getting security patches. Many budget hosts lag here. Hostnet doesn’t.
  • Free wildcard SSL via Let’s Encrypt – SSL puts the padlock in the browser bar. Wildcard covers subdomains too, renewed automatically every three months.
  • Automatic backups on every shared tier – manual backups from Core upward. Read the pricing section below, because the contract says something different.
  • ISO 27001, 9001 et 14001 attestation – audited standards for information security, quality and environmental management, all currently active.

The shared platform runs SSD storage on Apache web servers with clustering, which spreads sites across machines so one spike doesn’t sink the rest. Solide, if unremarkable. Competitors increasingly run NVMe (faster storage than standard SSD) et LiteSpeed (a web server that serves cached pages faster than Apache). Hostnet doesn’t.

Emplacements des centres de données

Here’s where things get vague. Hostnet’s site advertisesgreen data centers” et “certified data serversin its page headers. It never names one. No location, no operator, no city.

What we could verify: Hostnet’s website, customer portal, mail filtering and DNS all run inside one.com’s networks, registered as AS51468 and AS197495 to One.com A/S. Public geolocation databases place those addresses in Copenhagen, not Amsterdam. The IP block itself is registered to Hostnet with the Netherlands as its country.

That doesn’t prove your website would sit outside the Netherlands. Company infrastructure and customer hosting often run in different places. But if data residency matters, ask before you buy, because the website won’t tell you. Notre Guide d'hébergement aux Pays-Bas covers providers that publish their locations.

One product does disclose its infrastructure. Managed WordPress Cloud runs on Google Cloud, using Google Cloud SQL and the NGINX web server. So Hostnet’s premium WordPress platform isn’t Hostnet’s platform at all.

Attentes en matière de performances

We found no independent benchmark data for Hostnet. Aucun test de vitesse tiers, pas de surveillance externe de la disponibilité, no measured Time To First Byte (how quickly a server starts responding). We’re not going to invent any. What we can report is what Hostnet promises contractually, and that’s less than the marketing suggests.

Hostnet Plans and Pricing

Expérience client

The main review profile carries 2,491 critiques à 4.6/5. Distribution matters more than the average here:

  • 5 étoiles: 2,143 Commentaires (86.0%)
  • 4 étoiles: 173 Commentaires (6.9%)
  • 3 étoiles: 28 Commentaires (1.1%)
  • 2 étoiles: 26 Commentaires (1.0%)
  • 1 étoile: 121 Commentaires (4.9%)

That’s a healthy shape, and one detail makes it credible. Hostnet isn’t currently sending review invitations, and the platform records no incentivised reviews. Recent five-star entries are marked organic, meaning customers wrote them unprompted. Plenty of hosts build glowing profiles entirely from automated invitations. This isn’t one of them.

A second Dutch platform tells a harsher story: 4.1/5 à travers 960 Commentaires, avec 64% cinq étoiles et 13% une étoile. Same company, nearly triple the share of furious customers. Seulement 414 du 2,491 main-profile reviews arrived in the last 12 mois, so the higher score leans on older history.

Ce que les clients louent

Soutien, soutien, et soutien. It’s close to the only theme in the positive reviews, and it’s specific rather than generic. Customers describe reaching a knowledgeable human on chat within minutes, and having the problem solved in that same conversation.

Longevity comes up often. Several reviewers mention 10 ou 15 years as a customer, which is worth more than a paragraph of marketing copy. Staff being Dutch-speaking and technically competent comes up repeatedly.

Even the fans concede the price. One five-star review from July 2026 puts it plainly: the price is above average, but the service justifies it. That’s Hostnet’s value proposition, summed up by a happy customer.

Plaintes courantes

Negative reviews from 2026 cluster tightly, and one theme dominates.

Reported upgrade pressure. Between March and July 2026, several reviewers describe the same experience. Named Hostnet staff phoned or emailed them, said their website was exceeding a memory limit, and pushed a more expensive package. Some call the tone threatening, citing warnings that the site could go offline. One reviewer working in SEO wrote that no technical evidence was offered. A web designer said several of their non-technical clients were approached the same way.

To be fair to Hostnet: memory limits are real, and its own documentation explains that exceeding them produces 500 et 508 les erreurs. That guide covers VPS and Performance Hosting, not the standard shared tiers. Reviewers don’t object to limits existing. They object to being called about them and asked to pay more, without seeing the data.

Price increases after the acquisition. Reviewers link rising bills directly to the private equity ownership. One April 2026 review is titledWatch out for this acquired company too.

Automatic renewal and cancellation friction. Several customers report contracts renewing silently. One describes repeated cancellation attempts being reversed. Unexpected domain renewals are the most common version.

Charges for routine tasks. Complaints mention billing for subdomain creation and PHP version changes. One reviewer had a site suspended over a late invoice.

Commentaires de la communauté (Forums et discussions)

Dutch hosting discussion happens on local forums rather than Reddit, so that’s where we looked. Hostnet has almost no Reddit footprint at all.

Un janvier 2023 thread on higherlevel.nl, a Dutch business forum, is instructive. One user reported sites going offline repeatedly, once for three days straight, plus email outages and night-time disruptions outside maintenance windows. Another user, with multiple client sites at Hostnet, didn’t recognise those problems at all. A third listed Hostnet among providers attractingless positive messages,” citing rising prices and helpdesk concerns. That thread’s suggested alternatives were TransIP, Vimexx and Cloud86.

An independent Dutch review site rated Hostnet 2 hors de 5 en mars 2026. Its verdict: competitors offer more features, faster servers and better support at the same price. It did credit real improvements, noting the new platform and automatic daily backups with 7 à 14 conservation des jours.

Nobody calls Hostnet unreliable rubbish. Plenty of people say it costs too much for what it is.

Qualité de l'assistance

Support is Hostnet’s strongest asset and its most oversold claim at once.

Le chat se déroule du lundi au vendredi 09:00 à 18:00, et les week-ends 10:00 à 14:00. Le téléphone fonctionne du lundi au vendredi 09:00 à 16:00, sans couverture le week-end. Email is answered seven days a week, with a 24-hour target. Hostnet markets this aspersonal contact 7 days a week.” Vrai, but weekend support means four hours a day, on chat only.

On the review platform itself, Hostnet answers 71% of its negative reviews, faire la moyenne 1.8 journées, and uses AI to generate those replies. Quelques 2026 reviewers complain support has moved abroad, though we couldn’t verify that.

When to Use Hostnet

There are situations where Hostnet is clearly the right call:

Idéal pour

Dutch small businesses that will actually call support: This is the core case. If a broken website costs you money, and you want a competent Dutch speaker on chat within minutes, Hostnet beats most rivals. le 86% five-star rate is built almost entirely on this.

Agences gérant des sites clients: The higher tiers carry 75 à 100 databases and 100 à 200 boîtes aux lettres, enough for a decent client portfolio. Hostnet runs a dedicated agency programme, and several reviews come from agencies using it as their standard platform.

Organisations that need certification on paper: L'ISO 27001, 9001 et 14001 certifications are audited and current. If your compliance officer needs a box ticked, that’s real value many competitors can’t match.

Vous l'apprécierez si

  • You want lots of mailboxes bundled with hosting, because Core upward includes 50 à 200. Voir notre guide d'hébergement de messagerie for how that compares
  • You value a supplier with 25 years of history over the cheapest monthly rate
  • You’re migrating an existing site, since Hostnet migrates it free (frais de courrier électronique en supplément)
  • You want current PHP versions without managing them yourself

When NOT to Use Hostnet

Aucun hôte ne convient à tout le monde. Hostnet is the wrong pick if:

Regardez ailleurs si

Price is your main criterion: From year two you’re paying EUR 119.88 c'est des euros 275.88 une année, plus EUR 23 for a .nl domain. That sits well above the Dutch market. The promotional rate feels great for twelve months and painful afterwards.

Vous avez besoin d'une garantie de disponibilité contractuelle: Article 7 of the general terms offers no availability guarantee without a designated SLA. The only product carrying one is Managed Hosting, from EUR 50/mo, à 99.98%. Meanwhile the webhosting page promisesthe highest uptime. Guaranteed.

You’re relying on the advertised backups: This is the sharpest contradiction we found. Every shared plan advertises automatic backups. Article 7 of the same terms says Hostnet does not make backups available without an additional SLA, and that making them is the customer’s responsibility. Whatever runs in practice, the contract says the backups aren’t yours to rely on. Keep independent copies.

Vous avez besoin de serveurs dédiés: Hostnet doesn’t sell them. The ceiling is a 4-core, 8 GB VPS.

Drapeaux rouges pour votre situation

  • You run a business and hate surprise increases: The terms allow a 4% price rise every January with no cancellation right for business customers. Consumers get two monthsnotice and can leave.
  • You want weekend phone support: There isn’t any. Phone is weekdays until 16:00.
  • You forget domain renewals: Recovering a lapsed domain costs EUR 50 plus re-registration.
  • You want to know where your data sits: Hostnet never names a data centre location.

Hostnet Transparency Score

We assess how forthcoming Hostnet is with information that affects buying decisions:

  • Informations sur la société: Limité – The About page names no founding year, no parent company and no headquarters. Ownership by group.one appears nowhere obvious, despite dating to 2020. The registered address carries a note that it isn’t a visiting address.
  • Transparence des prix: Bien, with one real problem – Renewal rates sit struck through beside promotional ones, qui bat la plupart des concurrents. The checkout shows the full annual renewal before you pay. Non divulgué: the same package selling for EUR 0.99 on one page and EUR 4.99 sur un autre. Also undisclosed: the 3-month term costs more per month than the annual one.
  • Documentation technique: Limité – PHP versions, storage and database counts are clear. Data centre location, operator and hardware aren’t stated anywhere. The VPS page lists operating systems that reached end of life years ago.
  • termes & Politiques: Available but contradictory – The terms are complete, actuel (dated 1 avril 2026) and readable. They also contradict the product pages on uptime and backups. Product pages advertise a 30-day money-back guarantee; the withdrawal page describes the statutory 14-day consumer right. Les deux sont réels, but they’re different things stated in different places.

Transparence globale: Mixte. Hostnet is unusually honest about renewal pricing and unusually quiet about everything else. A buyer who reads only the product pages would believe they’re getting guaranteed uptime and guaranteed backups in a green Dutch data centre. The contract promises none of the three.

Alternatives to Hostnet

If Hostnet doesn’t fit, these alternatives address the gaps above:

For Lower Renewal Costs: Vimexx or Cloud86

Both come up repeatedly in Dutch forum threads as the value picks, named by users who left Hostnet over pricing. Cloud86 gets cited for including backups and email without the renewal jump.

For Transparent Infrastructure: TransIP

TransIP publishes its data centre locations and specifications, which Hostnet doesn’t. It’s the most commonly recommended Hostnet alternative in Dutch business forums. Notre managed WordPress hosting guide for the Netherlands covers providers with clearer performance commitments.

For a Real Uptime SLA: Any host with a written guarantee

Getting a contractual availability commitment from Hostnet costs EUR 50/mo. Plenty of hosts include a written SLA on standard shared plans for a fraction of that.

Conclusion

Examen Hostnet sur HowToHosting.Guide

Copiez ce résultat

Hostnet earns its 4.6/5 on support and loses ground on price. It’s a competent, agréé, long-established Dutch host whose customers genuinely like dealing with it.

L'essentiel

Avec 4.6/5 à travers 2,491 organic reviews, et 4.1/5 à travers 960 on a second platform, Hostnet delivers support most competitors can’t match. It falls short on cost, contractual guarantees and infrastructure disclosure.

Buy it if a fast, knowledgeable Dutch helpdesk is worth 50% à 100% above market rate. Skip it if you’re price-driven, need a written uptime SLA on a standard plan, or want to know where your servers are. If you do buy, order through the WordPress hosting page and skip the Lite tier. Both decisions save real money.

Questions fréquemment posées

Is Hostnet good for beginners?

Oui, avec une mise en garde. The support is the best thing about it, and beginners benefit most from support. Chat responses are fast and staff explain things clearly. La mise en garde est le prix. A beginner testing an idea will find cheaper places to fail.

Is Hostnet worth the price?

It depends on what your time is worth. Year one is cheap at EUR 59.88 for most tiers. Year two costs EUR 119.88 c'est des euros 275.88, which is well above the Dutch average. If you’d otherwise spend hours troubleshooting alone, the support pays for itself. If you’re comfortable technically, tu paies trop cher.

De quoi les clients se plaignent-ils le plus ??

Trois choses. Renewal and domain pricing, especially the EUR 23 charge for a .nl domain. Automatic renewal catching people out. And through 2026, a run of reports about sales staff phoning customers about memory limits and pushing package upgrades. That last one appears in reviews from March, May and July 2026.

Does Hostnet guarantee uptime?

Not on shared hosting or VPS. The general terms say Hostnet will make efforts to keep systems available but gives no guarantee without a separate SLA. Only Managed Hosting, starting at EUR 50/mo, carries a written 99.98% garantie. The marketing pages are more confident than the contract.

Is Hostnet good for WordPress?

It’s fine. You get one-click installation, current PHP versions and free wildcard SSL. There’s no staging environment on shared plans, and the server is Apache rather than a WordPress-tuned alternative. Order through the WordPress hosting page, since the identical package is EUR 0.99/mo there versus EUR 4.99/mo on the general hosting page.

Does Hostnet offer refunds?

Product pages advertise a 30-daynot satisfied, money back” garantie. Séparément, Dutch consumers have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal, which applies to private individuals only, pas des entreprises. Cancellation of an ongoing contract must reach Hostnet at least one month before the contract period ends, or it renews automatically.
