Fornex – 381 Customer Reviews: Analysis (Aug 2026)

Fornex does something most budget hosts don’t. The price on the pricing page is the price you keep paying. No promotional rate that triples in year two. That alone puts it ahead of half the market. The problem is elsewhere: what Fornex advertises and what it contractually promises are different numbers, and the gap is large.

This review draws on 900+ customer reviews across four platforms, the live order system, and the company’s own Terms of Service. Unlike affiliate-heavy reviews, we read the contract and priced every billing cycle in the checkout. We quote the platform where Fornex scores 2.5, not just the one where it scores 4.9. And we checked the company registration rather than repeat a founding year reviewers copy from each other.

Overall assessment: Fornex earns 3.9/5 from us. Pricing is stable, hardware choice is unusually broad, and support gets praised repeatedly. Three things pull it down. A 99.99% uptime claim backed by a 99.5% contract. A refund policy that contradicts itself. And a review record that splits sharply by platform. Best suited for technical buyers in Germany or the Netherlands who read terms before paying.

Note on older reviews: Fornex changed a lot in 2026. It opened a Falkenberg, Sweden data center in January and tripled European VPS port speeds in February. It also quietly dropped Russia. Any review written before 2026 describes a different product.

Features and Services

What you get here is infrastructure, not website-building convenience. No marketing bundle, no upsell carousel at checkout. You pick a machine, pick a country, and pay.

Hosting Types Offered

  • Shared Hosting – four cPanel plans (cPanel is the industry-standard hosting control panel), 25 to 100 websites
  • VPS Hosting – full root access, on x86 and ARM processors
  • Dedicated Servers – 47 configurations, from single Xeon boxes to NVIDIA H100 GPU machines
  • S3 Object Storage and VPN – two smaller side products

Key Features Customers Highlight

  • Fast deployment – VPS activation in 15 to 20 seconds, mentioned often.
  • Free migration – engineers move files, databases and email at no cost. Reviews confirm it.
  • Choice of CPU clock speed – pick 2.1, 3.0 or 3.8 GHz and pay accordingly. Few hosts expose this.
  • NVMe storage – a drive type roughly three times faster than standard SSD, on every plan.
  • CloudLinux isolation on shared plans – walls off each account’s CPU and memory, so a neighbour can’t drain your resources.

Data Center Locations

Six countries: Germany (Frankfurt), Netherlands (Rotterdam), Sweden (Falkenberg), Switzerland, Spain (Barcelona) and the USA (Dallas). Dedicated servers run in Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden only.

Here’s a detail worth catching. Older reviews list Russia and Ukraine as Fornex locations, and Fornex still serves a “Rent VPS in Russia” page with Moscow marketing copy. Load it today and it returns “Plan not found.” Russia appears in no location picker, yet the shared hosting page still advertises an “RU data center” for Bitrix sites. That product looks gone.

Performance Expectations

We don’t run server tests. No credible independent uptime monitoring for Fornex could be verified either, so treat the company’s figures as claims.

One specification deserves a hard look. The VPS page advertises “Bandwidth 100 Mbps.” Yet a company news post dated 27 February 2026 says the baseline tripled to 300 Mbit/s, in Sweden, the Netherlands and Germany only. Spain, Switzerland and USA customers still get 100 Mbps at identical prices, and neither the product page nor the checkout says so. Pick the wrong country and you pay the same money for a third of the speed.

Customer Experience

This is one of the most split review records we’ve assessed. On HostAdvice, Fornex holds 4.9/5 from 523 reviews. On Trustpilot it holds 2.5/5 from 16. Both are real.

The Trustpilot distribution is worth seeing in full: 10 one-star, 2 two-star, zero three-star, zero four-star, 4 five-star. Nothing in the middle at all. One more thing: the HostAdvice listing carries an advertising disclosure and an active coupon. The Trustpilot profile is unclaimed and carries neither.

What Customers Praise

Support speed comes up more than anything else. Reviewers describe ticket replies in minutes, from engineers who solve the problem rather than pasting a knowledge base link. Fornex claims a 3 minute 45 second average, and reviews broadly support that.

Migration is the second theme. Several reviewers moved from another host and describe the free transfer as painless. One HostAdvice reviewer in July 2026 had an expired server fully restored, databases included, after an overdue payment.

Longer-term customers praise stability. A December 2025 reviewer running two VPS boxes for over a year reported consistent uptime and no billing surprises. That’s the pattern: when nothing breaks, Fornex is well liked.

Common Complaints

Account blocking dominates the negative reviews. Reviewers in 2022, 2023 and 2025 describe accounts or sites suspended without a reason they found adequate. One long-standing customer had hosting blocked after their domain hit a Spamhaus blacklist, with 24 hours to fix it. That review was marked helpful by 69 of 70 readers.

Bad luck, or policy? Read the contract and it’s policy. The Terms reserve the right to “unilaterally deny and/or terminate the servicing of the Subscriber without stating the reasons thereof.” These complaints describe the contract working as written.

Second: shared hosting resource limits used as upsell pressure. A 2024 reviewer had sites stop working, was told the processor was at 100%, and was offered a higher tier. The Terms back this up. Fornex may cap a shared account at 150 domain names, then push the customer onto a VPS on five working days’ notice.

Third: support language quality. A March 2025 reviewer described agents whose English was hard to follow, sending “confusing, cryptic messages,” while noting others were excellent. Speed is consistent. Depth depends on who picks up your ticket.

Community Feedback (Reddit & Forums)

Here’s something odd. There’s almost no English-language community footprint. No LowEndTalk threads of substance, no Web Hosting Talk discussion, nothing on the hosting subreddits. For a company claiming 16 years in business, that’s strange, and it means far less independent scrutiny than a host this size usually attracts.

What does exist is Russian-language. The real Fornex mentions on Reddit sit in r/AmneziaVPN and r/rusAskReddit, where users run self-hosted VPN endpoints on Fornex machines. That fits the rest of the picture. Fornex bills in Russian roubles and Ukrainian hryvnia, supports Russian, and invoices through a Moscow sole proprietorship.

Two candid warnings from that side. A Romanian reviewer running Fornex VPN got roughly half the advertised 200 Mbit/s. Another said the company ignored an abuse report about a scam site on its network.

Support Quality

Channels are ticket, live chat, email and a US phone line, 24/7 including weekends, in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian.

One claim deserves context. Fornex advertises “40 people in our tech support team.” The Spanish register lists Fornex Hosting S.L. at 1 to 9 employees on under EUR 2 million turnover. Staff are presumably hired through the Cyprus, US or Russian entities. The Spanish company you contract with is small.

When to Use Fornex

There are specific scenarios where this host is a strong choice:

Ideal For

Buyers who hate renewal games: Been burned by a host charging EUR 2 for year one and EUR 12 for year two? Fornex solves that. Your rate doesn’t move. Prepay 12 months and you’ve locked a real price, not a teaser.

Technical users who tune their machines: Picking clock speed, storage tier and architecture separately is rare at this price. Workload single-thread bound? Buy the 3.8 GHz line and skip cores you won’t use.

German and Dutch projects: The mature locations, with dedicated servers, the 300 Mbit/s network and the deepest hardware catalogue. A reasonable fit for anyone shopping our Germany web hosting guide.

You’ll Appreciate It If

  • You’re migrating from another host, because engineers do the transfer free
  • You want a GPU or ARM server without an enterprise contract, because both sit in the standard catalogue
  • You want Switzerland or Spain specifically, because few budget hosts offer either

When NOT to Use Fornex

No host suits everyone. Fornex isn’t the right choice if:

Look Elsewhere If

You need a meaningful uptime guarantee: Fornex markets a 99.99% uptime SLA (a Service Level Agreement is a contractual availability promise). Its Terms guarantee 99.5%, or “not more than 43 hours per year.” The advertised figure allows about 53 minutes a year. The contract allows roughly 50 times that. Compensation is capped at 1/720 of your monthly fee per hour, as account credit. On a EUR 5 plan, a full day of downtime earns you about 17 cents.

Getting your money back matters: The window is 7 days, not the 30 days several review sites report. The refund page says funds are credited “only” to your Fornex balance. Two bullets later it says payment-method refunds happen “at the discretion of the Company.” Processing takes “from 1 to 45 days.”

You host anything that attracts abuse reports: Between the blocked-account complaints and Terms permitting termination without stated reasons, put critical workloads somewhere with a documented appeals process.

Red Flags for Your Situation

  • You want to pay monthly: every advertised price assumes a year upfront. Monthly costs 17.6% to 25% more.
  • You may cancel early: clawback plus short-notice deduction can cost over 10% of a prepayment.
  • You’re deploying in Spain, Switzerland or the USA: 100 Mbps while Germany gets 300, same price.
  • You want peer validation: there’s almost no independent community discussion to check against.
  • You need to scale down later: VPS downgrades require a new paid order and a migration.

If any of these apply, consider Hetzner or Contabo instead. See the Alternatives section below.

Fornex Plans and Pricing

All prices below are in euros and exclude VAT. Fornex converts to dollars at its own internal rate, so USD figures elsewhere drift.

⚠️ Pricing Warning: Fornex has no renewal shock. Your rate stays the same, cycle after cycle, which is rare and genuinely good. The trap is the opposite one. Every headline price on the site is a 12-month prepay rate. Pay monthly for shared hosting and you pay EUR 5.00, not the advertised EUR 4.00, a 25% premium. And if you prepay a year then cancel early, Fornex recalculates your discount to zero and deducts the difference from your refund.

Shared Hosting

Discounts by term: 5% at 3 months, 10% at 6 months, 20% at 12 months.

  • WEB-25 – 2 CPU cores, 1GB RAM, 20GB NVMe, 25 sites. EUR 5.00/mo monthly, EUR 4.00/mo at 12 months.
  • WEB-50 – 4 cores, 2GB RAM, 35GB NVMe, 50 sites. EUR 8.00/mo monthly, EUR 6.40/mo at 12 months.
  • WEB-75 – 6 cores, 3GB RAM, 50GB NVMe, 75 sites. EUR 11.00/mo monthly, EUR 8.80/mo at 12 months.
  • WEB-100 – 8 cores, 4GB RAM, 65GB NVMe, 100 sites. EUR 14.00/mo monthly, EUR 11.20/mo at 12 months.

Every tier includes free SSL, daily backups, SSH access and unlimited email accounts. 20GB suits a handful of business sites. It’s tight for anything media-heavy.

VPS Hosting

The VPS discount ladder is shallower: 15% at 12 months, not 20%. Prices below are the 2.1 GHz line, the cheapest of three clock speeds.

  • Cloud NVMe 1 – 1 core, 1GB RAM, 10GB. EUR 5.50/mo monthly, EUR 4.68/mo at 12 months.
  • Cloud NVMe 2 – 1 core, 2GB RAM, 20GB. EUR 7.50/mo monthly, EUR 6.38/mo at 12 months.
  • Cloud NVMe 4 – 2 cores, 4GB RAM, 40GB. EUR 15.00/mo monthly, EUR 12.75/mo at 12 months.
  • Cloud NVMe 8 – 4 cores, 8GB RAM, 120GB. EUR 34.00/mo monthly, EUR 28.90/mo at 12 months.

Stepping to 3.0 GHz adds roughly 18%, and 3.8 GHz roughly 36%. A separate ARM line exists too. ARM chips are power-efficient processors that run most Linux software, though some commercial applications won’t. Root access, DDoS protection to 10 Gbps, snapshots and OS choice are included.

Dedicated Servers

Entry is the PROMO: NEXT 4110. That’s an 8-core Intel Xeon Silver 4110, 32GB RAM and 2x480GB SSD. It costs EUR 99.00/mo monthly, or EUR 84.15/mo at 12 months. The range runs to EUR 1,689.00/mo for an H100 GPU machine. All 47 configurations carry the same flat 15% maximum discount.

Check the silicon first. Several cheaper tiers run Xeon Silver 4110 or 4210 chips, 2017 and 2019 designs. The AMD Ryzen and EPYC options are far newer for similar money.

Hidden Costs to Watch

  • VAT – all displayed prices exclude it.
  • Monthly billing – 25% more than the advertised shared price, 17.6% more on VPS.
  • VPS backups – free to 50GB, then EUR 0.03 per 30 GB-days.
  • Faster network – 1 Gbit/s is a paid add-on, and only in Sweden, the Netherlands and Germany.
  • Free domain – locked to Fornex until your hosting order expires, and its cost is deducted if you refund early.
  • Downgrading a VPS – the Terms require a new paid order plus a migration. No in-place downgrade.
  • Late cancellation – without 30 days’ notice, Fornex may deduct a full month at the current rate.

Pricing Verdict

Competitive, and honest where it matters. A EUR 4.00 shared plan with 2 cores and CloudLinux isolation is decent value, and it stays EUR 4.00.

Now the arithmetic nobody else runs. Prepay 12 months of Cloud NVMe 8 at 15% off and you hand over EUR 346.80. Cancel after two months without giving 30 days’ notice, and two clauses fire. Your discount is recalculated to 0%, so those two months cost EUR 34.00 each rather than EUR 28.90. Then one further full month is deducted. Your refund is EUR 244.80, not the EUR 289.00 a simple pro-rata would return. That’s EUR 44.20 gone, about 13% of what you paid, to clauses buried in section 11.

So the pricing is stable but the exit isn’t. Prepay only if you’re confident.

Fornex Transparency Score

We assess how upfront Fornex is with important information:

  • Company Information: Good. All four legal entities are named with addresses, and the Spanish and Cypriot registration numbers link to public registries. That’s more than most hosts publish. But the site says “16+ years” while affiliate reviews say 1999. Fornex Hosting S.L. was incorporated on 5 May 2010. The 1999 date is the domain, not the company.
  • Pricing Transparency: Good. No renewal trap, term discounts stated clearly, and the checkout shows the real monthly figure. Marked down because every headline price is a 12-month rate labelled only “from.”
  • Technical Documentation: Limited. Specifications are detailed. But the VPS page still advertises 100 Mbps five months after the company announced 300 Mbit/s. It never says the upgrade covers three of six countries. A dead Russia product keeps live marketing pages.
  • Terms & Policies: Poor. The 99.99% versus 99.5% gap is the clearest example. The refund page contradicts itself within a single screen. And the two costliest clauses, discount clawback and 30-day cancellation notice, sit only in section 11 of the Terms.

Overall Transparency: Mixed. Fornex is unusually honest about price and unusually loose about everything you’d rely on when something goes wrong. The information is published. It just isn’t consistent between the page selling the service and the contract governing it.

Alternatives to Fornex

Each of these addresses a specific gap above:

For a Real Uptime Commitment: Hetzner

Hetzner publishes a defined SLA with tiered credits, not a marketing number its own terms contradict. Its German and Finnish facilities are larger, community scrutiny is enormous, and pricing is comparable. See our European VPS hosting guide.

For More Resources Per Euro: Contabo

Buying on raw specification? Contabo gives more RAM and disk at the same price, though support is slower. Our Contabo vs Hetzner comparison covers the trade-off.

For Straightforward Shared Hosting: Managed cPanel Hosts

Want cPanel plus a refund policy you can read once and understand? The mainstream managed hosts are the safer bet. Fornex’s refund page argues with itself. Compare options in our shared hosting guide.

For heavier workloads, our dedicated server guide covers providers running newer silicon at Fornex’s entry price.

Conclusion

Fornex Review at HowToHosting.Guide

Copy this result

Fornex scores 3.9/5. It’s a competent, technically interesting European host with the best pricing structure in its bracket. The documentation around it can’t keep its own story straight.

The Bottom Line

Buy Fornex for price stability and hardware flexibility. Don’t buy it for the 99.99% uptime figure, because the contract promises 99.5%. Don’t buy it expecting an easy refund, because the window is 7 days and the money may return as store credit.

Across 900+ reviews the picture is divided: 4.9/5 on the platform running its coupons, 2.5/5 on the one that isn’t. When a support ticket is all you need, customers are happy. When a billing dispute or suspended account is involved, they’re not. Solid for a technical buyer running non-critical workloads in Germany or the Netherlands. Wrong for a business that needs a guarantee it can enforce.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Fornex good for beginners?

Not really. The shared plans use cPanel, which beginners learn quickly. But there’s no hand-holding, and the pricing and refund rules need careful reading. Building your first website? Pick a host with clearer terms.

Is Fornex worth the price?

Yes, if you prepay and stay. EUR 4.00/mo for 2 CPU cores and 20GB NVMe is good value, and it never rises. Pay monthly and it’s EUR 5.00, a 25% premium on the advertised rate. Cancel a prepaid year early and you lose the discount retroactively.

What do customers complain about most?

Blocked accounts, by a wide margin. Reviewers from 2022 to 2025 describe suspensions with no explanation they accepted. The Terms permit termination “without stating the reasons thereof,” so this is the contract working as written. Second: shared hosting CPU limits leading to upgrade pressure. Third: variable English from support agents.

Does Fornex really guarantee 99.99% uptime?

No. The website says 99.99%. Section 9 of the Terms guarantees “not less than 99.5% during the year,” defined as up to 43 hours of downtime. That’s roughly 50 times more than the marketing figure allows. Compensation is account credit worth 1/720 of your monthly fee per excess hour.

How does Fornex compare to Hetzner?

Hetzner is bigger, cheaper per unit of compute, has a real published SLA, and a large community you can check claims against. Fornex offers more locations, faster support, and options Hetzner doesn’t sell, like selectable clock speeds and cPanel shared hosting. For business-critical work, Hetzner. For flexibility on a small budget, Fornex.

Does Fornex offer refunds?

Within 7 days, yes, with conditions. Several review sites report a 30-day guarantee. That’s wrong. The refund page states funds go “only” to your Fornex balance, then says a payment-method refund is at the company’s discretion. Dedicated servers lose one full month from any refund.
