WPX has been in business since 2013 and says it hosts about 60,000 websites. It is based in Sofia, Bulgaria, and its About page says founders Terry Kyle and Georgi Petrov still own 100% of it. It sells one thing: managed WordPress hosting. “Managed” means WPX handles the server, security updates and backups, and its staff will help inside WordPress too.

Hosting Types Offered

• WordPress hosting in four tiers: Starter (1 site), Business (5), Professional (15) and Elite (35).
• Agency hosting: one plan for up to 200 sites.
• WooCommerce hosting in three tiers: Powerstore (1 store), Superstore (3) and Hyperstore (5).
• Domain registration, with free WHOIS privacy on domains registered at WPX.

There is no VPS, no dedicated server and no hosting for anything other than WordPress. WPX’s own knowledge base calls its platform a shared hosting environment. That means your sites share a server with other customers, within fixed limits on memory and CPU.

What Every Plan Includes

The feature list is where WPX earns its reputation. Customers mention three items again and again in reviews.

• Free migrations: WPX’s team moves your sites and promises to be back in touch within 24 hours. The only paid case is a migration that also changes the domain name, which costs USD 98 (ex-VAT).
• Free malware removal: staff clean an infected site by hand. Every plan also gets a WAF. That stands for web application firewall, and it screens incoming requests for known attack patterns.
• XDN: WPX’s own CDN (content delivery network, a set of servers that keep copies of your pages near visitors). WPX says it has 43 endpoints worldwide, and it’s free on every plan.

Every plan also includes daily backups kept for 28 days and staging (a test copy of the site where you try changes first). Sites run on LiteSpeed, a web server built to run PHP sites like WordPress quickly.

Here’s the gap most reviews miss. The comparison table on WPX’s pricing page ticks Redis only on Elite, Agency and the WooCommerce plans. Redis is an object cache: it keeps database query results in memory, which matters most for stores, forums and membership sites. Starter, Business and Professional don’t get it. So the cheapest WordPress plan with Redis costs USD 119.99 a month.

Data Center Locations

WPX runs three origin data centers: Chicago, London and Sydney. You pick one per site at checkout. That is few compared with cloud-based rivals, and there is nothing in Asia, South America or Africa.

The XDN softens this, since cached pages can be served from an edge location near the visitor. But logged-in users, carts and admin screens still travel to the origin. Performance Expectations

We measured network latency to WPX’s Chicago, London and Sydney data centers from 9 countries on 28 September 2026. Latency is the time a signal takes to reach a server and come back, in milliseconds (ms). Each test sent 10 pings from a home or mobile internet connection. We pinged the servers themselves, not the CDN, so this shows how far each region is from where your site actually runs. It isn’t a page-speed test.

From each city, the nearest WPX data center answered in these times. London took 6.6 ms, Philadelphia 21.6 ms and Brisbane 23.3 ms. Sofia took 37.3 ms and Calgary 56.4 ms. Sao Paulo needed 160.3 ms and KwaDukuza in South Africa 172.5 ms. Singapore took 200.6 ms to Sydney, with 60% of packets lost. Palwal in India took 234.8 ms, and its closest WPX server was Chicago.

The pattern is clear. Visitors in North America, Europe and Australia sit close to a WPX server. Visitors in Asia, Africa and South America don’t, whichever location you choose. WPX’s order form suggests Sydney for Asia. From our Singapore probe, Sydney was barely faster than Chicago: 200.6 ms against 207.8 ms.

WPX’s pricing page says “99.95% uptime guaranteed”. Nothing in its Terms of Service mentions an uptime figure or a credit for downtime. We found no public status page either. Reddit users reported short outages on 13 and 22 January 2025. One said the second was fixed in under an hour.

Customer Experience

WPX’s main Trustpilot profile is still filed under its old domain, wpxhosting.com. Trustpilot score: 4.7 from 3,628 reviews. Of those, 96.3% give five stars and 2.5% give one star. The simple average of all ratings is 4.88. Trustpilot weights recent reviews more, so the lower 4.7 suggests newer reviews are less glowing than older ones.

Migrations come third. Reviewers describe WPX moving several sites overnight. All they had to do was change nameservers, the setting that points a domain at a host.

Slower escalations are the clearest 2026 theme. Four one-star reviews posted in March to May 2026 describe the same shift. A ticket for a site optimization stayed open for 11 days. Malware on another site lasted three weeks. A customer of four years wrote that issues now take days.

Genuine Reddit discussion of WPX is thin. The most useful thread, from January 2025, covers a short outage. A second user reported that WPX acknowledged the outage and fixed it in under an hour. The original poster had seen one issue in three years.

A billing dispute posted in October 2025 is more telling. A commenter pointed out that the customer had paid about USD 14 for a year of hosting and a domain. The listed yearly price was USD 249.99. That’s the price trap to watch at WPX: promotions, not the list price.

One warning about r/wpxhosting. It was created on 20 January 2026 and has 2 subscribers. All 17 of its posts come from a single account named after WPX’s co-founder, reposting five-star Trustpilot reviews. We don’t count it as community feedback.

Support Quality

WPX offers two support channels, live chat and tickets, and no phone number. The chat runs 24/7, and WPX claims a 30-second average first response. Its knowledge base explains why fixes can then stall.

Escalated requests go to teams that only work weekdays, from 9.00 to 18.00 (GMT+3). A problem the chat agent can’t solve on Friday evening may wait until Monday. That fits the 2026 complaints: the first reply is fast, but a stubborn issue isn’t always solved fast.

• Company Information: Limited. The contact page gives a Sofia street address and a Bulgarian company number. But the Terms of Service name “K Media Tech, LLC” under Texas law, while page footers say “K Media Tech OOD”, a Bulgarian company form.
• Pricing Transparency: Good. Every term’s price and prepaid total sits on one page. The five-year default and the first-term-only Price Lock take some digging to notice.
• Technical Documentation: Good. Plan specs list RAM, CPU cores and PHP workers, and a full table shows which plan gets Redis. The uptime figure has no terms behind it.
• Terms & Policies: Good. WPX’s refund rules are short and clear, including the USD 5 floor, the non-refundable renewals and the 30-day limit. Its terms are strict, but they’re written plainly.

WPX Hosting Plans and Pricing

WPX doesn’t use the usual cheap-first-year model. Its plan cards show one list price per billing term, and a longer term buys a lower monthly rate. That’s rarer than it should be. But the page makes a long prepay look like the normal price, and November’s rise shows that prices do move.

Starter: USD 17.99/mo monthly, down to USD 11.99/mo on five years. It hosts one site with 10 GB of storage, 3 GB of RAM and 0.5 of a CPU core. It gets 9 PHP workers, the processes that build uncached pages. There is no business email on Starter.

Business: USD 29.99/mo monthly. It runs up to 5 sites on 20 GB, 5 GB of RAM, one CPU core and 15 PHP workers, shared across all five sites. Email with unlimited mailboxes is included from this tier up.

Professional and Elite: USD 59.99 and USD 119.99 a month on monthly billing. Elite is the first WordPress plan with Redis.

How much did November 2025 change? Business went from USD 24.99 to USD 29.99 a month, Professional from USD 49.99 to USD 59.99, and Elite from USD 99.00 to USD 119.99. The yearly prices rose by the same 20%, and Business now costs USD 299.90 a year instead of USD 249.99. Storage grew a little on each tier, but RAM, CPU cores and PHP workers stayed the same.

Powerstore: USD 34.99/mo monthly, or USD 23.33/mo on five years. It runs one store with 8 GB of RAM, 2 CPU cores, 10 PHP workers and Redis. Superstore (3 stores) costs USD 74.99 and Hyperstore (5 stores) USD 149.99 on monthly billing. These three prices didn’t change in November 2025.

What Renewal Really Means Here

WPX prints no separate renewal price, and a plan renews at its list price. The “WPX Price Lock” sounds like more than that. Read the definition, though: the price stays the same “for the duration of your initial subscription period”.

So a monthly customer is locked for one month. After that, the Terms of Service let WPX “change its Fees at any time”. A five-year prepay is the only way to fix today’s rate for long. It also means paying up to USD 4,799.60 upfront.

Hidden Costs to Watch

• SAVE79 and refunds: the site-wide code takes 79% off the first month of a monthly WordPress plan. By our calculation, that makes Starter’s first month about USD 3.78. The refund policy only covers purchases over USD 5.
• Domain-change migration: USD 98 (ex-VAT). A standard migration is free.
• Backups: daily and free, but the ToS says they “cannot be downloaded” from the control panel. Zip, tar and other archive files are left out of them.
• Chargebacks: filing one gets your service terminated, and returning means paying a restoration fee plus the dispute fees.
• SSL and CDN: free on every plan.

WPX sits between budget shared hosting and premium hosts like Kinsta, whose single-site plan costs USD 35 a month. With no cheap-first-year trick, the monthly price is honest. The weak spots are the five-year default, a lock that covers only the first term, and Redis held back until Elite. Business on monthly billing, at USD 29.99, is the fair comparison point.
