Physical distance drives latency, so a Sydney site served from Sydney feels faster than one served from Frankfurt. Only 14 of those cities have their own ordering category in Virtono’s cart. Virtono doesn’t own these facilities. It rents space in what it calls “neutral datacenters.” That’s normal at this size, but network quality varies by site.

Performance Expectations

No independent uptime monitoring data is publicly available for Virtono. Their own network status page requires a login, so you cannot check incident history before buying.

The most detailed third-party benchmark is a May 2025 LowEndTalk review by the user jsg, who tested a promotional 2-core, 4GB VPS. Storage was good: he called the read and write rate “decent, really decent.” The processor was an Intel Xeon Gold 5218. Its performance showed “very high spread which basically boils down to a lottery,” suggesting a busy shared node.

Network results were the weak point. The same reviewer called connectivity “mediocre at best.” Many test targets were “almost or indeed complete failures from Virtono,” despite the server sitting in Milan, a city known for good peering. Asian, African and American routing was rated poor.

Basic costs EUR 21.00 for six months (EUR 3.50/mo) but EUR 59.40 for a year (EUR 4.95/mo). That’s 41% more per month for a longer commitment. Six consecutive 6-month terms cost EUR 126.00. The 3-year plan costs EUR 126.00. Identical. The 3-year lock-in buys you nothing.

One inconsistency: the sales page lists 15GB of storage on Basic. The checkout page for the same plan says 10GB.

But that EUR 2.50/mo headline needs an asterisk. The KVM 512M plan has no monthly option at all. It’s sold as a single EUR 29.95 annual payment. The cheapest VPS you can rent by the month is the KVM 1G at EUR 4.50.

Larger sizes run EUR 20.95 (4GB), EUR 42.95 (8GB), EUR 89.95 (16GB) up to EUR 359.95 (64GB). Memory-optimized plans start at EUR 60.00 for 16GB RAM. Storage plans start at EUR 100.00 for 300GB.

Cloud Hosting (Managed)

Here the ladder behaves normally: monthly EUR 59.95, six months EUR 47.95/mo, one year EUR 41.95/mo. The top tier reaches EUR 174.95/mo annual. cPanel and WHM are included, which matters because they aren’t on the VPS plans.

• Company Information: Good. The legal entity, Romanian registration number, Navodari address and founding year are all published. Marketing pages do still carry a 2025 copyright while the client area shows 2026
• Pricing Transparency: Good with one gap. Prices carry no renewal trap, setup fees are zero and VAT exclusion is disclosed. But the 6-month cycle that beats the annual cycle is never mentioned. The Basic plan’s storage is also listed as 15GB on one page and 10GB on another
• Technical Documentation: Limited. Per-location speed test files are a nice touch. Against that, the status page needs a login. The VPS operating system menus also still offer CentOS 7 and CentOS 8. Both are past end-of-life, meaning no security patches since 2024 and 2021 respectively

Refunds. Three product pages promise a “Risk-free, 30 days money back guarantee.” The phrase “30 days” appears nowhere in the terms. What the terms grant is a 14-day withdrawal right, lost once a service is switched on, except for web hosting.

Price stability. The sales copy reads: “we will not overcharge you on renewal… the price will remain the same during our partnership.” The terms read: “VIRTONO may adjust the prices once a year according to the Romanian consumer prices annual rate… For such increases, the Customer’s approval shall not be necessary.”

One more. Marketing claims 99.99% uptime. The terms claim 100%. Compensation only starts below 99.9%, uses Virtono’s own monitoring, and is paid “at our discretion.” Three numbers for one promise.

Overall Transparency: Mixed, trending poor. Virtono is unusually honest about price and unusually loose about everything the price is supposed to buy.
