Modifying WordPress user roles by the default method will require a lot of technical knowledge and programming skills and thus it is not recommended for people who are not 100% sure what are they doing.
Yet, many plugins can help you to modify and control different user permissions with a beautiful and user-friendly interface.

One of the most famous plugins for user role control is the User Role Editor plugin.
This plugin allows you to change user roles and their capabilities very easy.

With User Role Editor plugin you can specify different user roles and assign different capabilities to them.

For example, you can create a role for people moderating your blog and give them access to publish/edit/delete posts, or you can create another role for people configuring and adjusting new plugins and grant them control over the plugins of your website.

It is a pretty easy and convenient way of managing your users and their roles and we would recommend you do this if you are trying to manage a big web project together with other people.

Do not forget not to grant other people higher privileges than yours if you are not 100% sure that the person is reliable and not going to harm your website.
